I feel,since he learned Ann's position on lgbt rights and the fact she would still battle, using any influence she could, to deny them or even remove them.

She wanted in place discrimination against and still would want it, as to lgbt rights.

Her strength,determination and tramping on anyone getting in her way, is the badge this Woman proudly has worn all her adult life.
