Not everyone who posts in SD is staunchly right OR left wing. Some of us are far more neutral but don't bother as our views get lost in the myriad of arguments between the two sides. Neither hard left or right leaning people are good at listening to other views in my experience. Having said that, its actually interesting to watch the extremes play out in debates and on occasion I have changed my views on certain things so I don't find it as toxic as people make out. What does frustrate me is the whining that goes on and people sniping rather than debating in an adult fashion. Sometimes the actual arguments get lost in a world of " you're racist" "no I'm not, you are" type posts and then the whole thread descends into chaos
