Lets see what the situation is after another couple of generations of Big Brother
SD's is skewed (quite heavily) towards 35+ tho. The overall forum might be "younger" but to suggest that regular SD posters are on average "youngsters" is just false.

Seriously though. The nuclear arms race was very useful to the world. It got us into space and on the moon much quicker and most likely prevented a Third World War but now is the time i think for every country to multilaterally scrap their nuclear weapons programs and turn those nukes into power for advanced spacecraft to get us to Proxima Centauri and also explore Mars and find the tenth planet in our solar system.
agreed

my, you dream big Proxima Centauri?! We need to discover some new physics for that to happen, which we will but not for a while yet
I'd be happy with Mars and mining some asteroids. And maybe some terraforming stuff like deflecting Sun from places that are too hot on Earth (Sahara is slowly increasing) and warming up Mars for future colonisation

It’s only a BB forum.
The only time i think i let myself get vaguely miffed was when the Truth got unfairly(imo) banned but then i checked myself and thought ‘really who gives ****’ it’s a discussion forum. Its not important.
People on here seem to take delight in deliberately pushing each others buttons.Ones that they know all too well will set a burning inferno going.Everyone starts resenting each other.
It’s ok to have different opinions. It doesn’t mean the person you disagree with is an arsehole(though they might be).I don’t agree with loads of people on here on loads of stuff.Does’nt mean i dislike them.I don’t think anything is worth getting into bitey bitter arguments about. It’s just perspectives.
There’s some excellent posters on here that i disagree with on loads of stuff but can still see they still put up excellent thought provoking arguments.
Don’t take this **** so seriously.
At the end of the day. It’s all bollocks.

It'd also help if all political thread being opened every day were not anti-labour (Monkey of the North, I'm looking at you). We all know there's more than enough material to bash the Tories.

When the likes of scum like him are allowed to fill forum's with sh*t is when you question what you want your forum to be.

All political parties have their pros and cons, whoever is in power someone is being screwed over, usually those in the middle who earn too much to qualify for any benefits but not enough to squirrel it offshore, and they all look after themselves, there has been no pay freeze for MPs whoever is in power or no adverse affect on their gold plated pensions

Ironic post given you're talking about banned people thinking they don't deserve bans and are talking about things you aren't privy to.

Amazes me how you constantly pull others up on things you yourself do constantly.

I actually voted Labour in the last GE just because i felt like i should vote.
Only Labour piss me off more than the Tories because they’re disappointing me more by the day.I expect the Tories to be ***** and have never voted for them.Although they seem more sensible than current Labour even though May is f’king useless.
I want to be able to support a good more centrist realistic Labour party but with comrade Corbyn i’m politically homeless and won’t vote again probably for years unless a new party comes along.
All this PC and anti-British and Momentum takeover is currently the thing annoying me.That’s why i create anti Labour threads when i read something ridiculous it’s usually from them.

No doubt many don't feel they deserve them, I have seen plenty of people saying that, I don't need to be privy to anything. I report what I hear.

You are in a pretty fragile glass house yourself so in no position to make such comments.

Posters calling other posters 'Bigoted', 'troll', 'scum' is what I call toxic, not opposing views to mine.

Fragile glass house?

Didn't you just make comment about people who are never banned looking down on the ones who are and just because they haven't beeb banned doesn't mean they didn't deserve to be since it's at a mods discretion.

You're showing your hypocrisy again.

Is the right/left, tory/labour, remain/leave divide even relevant anymore though?

The most recently discussed threads on this section are
Toys R Us
Multi accounts
The weather
Patriotism
Snowmen
Diabetes
10p coins

I think people are still habitually agreeing and fighting with those they know to be (un)like them on the political side of things.

Hardly anybody in this thread has even responded to the OP!

Thats how I see it anyway. I had Kaz reiterate her views on the OP to me and questioning my views, despite my views on the OP being very similar to hers... Brillo came on and just disagreed with Smithy without responding herself, Cherie came on and just applauded Brillo without responding herself... Parm did the same despite Brillos post being nothing to do with the thread he created!

I'm sure there are other examples, it just seems like people are ready to disagree with those that theyre used to disagreeing with, without even reading their views, and agreeing with the same old people in every thread regardless too.

So you're going to assume people like myself are calling him bigoted because he had different views and not because he actually earned his ban through being abusive and bigoted.

If you were not on the receiving end of his abuse it's easy to brush it off.

Calling bigotry what it is, is toxic? Even when it's accurate?

I'm centrist too and thought Corbyn would be a goner after 2015 GE. But he proved me wrong with a relatively decent campaign. I still have my reservations (mainly over his foreign policy pronouncements) but decided to give him a chance. Still not keen on some internal labour politics though. Being in power usually checks wackier ideas and he should end up in the centre after all.

Im betting both are friends of yours hence the reluctance to name them..and i would put brillos life on the fact that you have only not reported them for the same reason.

Well one of the two people was Brillo lol, in both cases, the mods found out before me, so I never reported either.

Then I deliberately gave a small "in" for her to kick off and I swear she was there within 5 minutes with the "OH YEAH AND WHO ARE YOU TO BLAH BLAH BLAH".

She's just watching threads and waiting for an opportunity to argue . The mods know fine well and don't seem to care, so it really is pointless to bother.

It's a shame really as I actually think Brillo is perfectly CAPABLE of making sound and reasonable posts... She just seems to thrive on all of the other crap . Especially when it prompts the same handful of members to start posting "in support" (Kazanne, Cherie, Jaxie, Parm, sometimes Alf).

Its like groundhog day except without the affable performance of Bill Murray. Boring af. We all need to stop doing it ffs.

(The irony that I am doing it right now doesn't escape me btw... And I'm sure this will promptly be deleted... But honestly this nonsense has been going on for YEARS at this point. Every thread turning into the same basic thread with the same posts, from the same people, over and over and over...)
Dont bring me into this...i dont even ever recall quoting brillo once.....i do enjoy reading her(also news to me) though.

On a serious not in SD the left wing people have a far far thinner skin and get quite affronted when their pearls of wisdom get trashed. I think its down to them being younger and more idealistic?
