I have a friend from Russia and he recently got sent to the Cinema by the job he works at for men's day with other male colleagues, I think different countries just take it more seriously than others.

oh that's cool I didn't think people would do stuff like that though, I thought it's more about raising awareness of mens issues in general and fund raising for mens cancers etc

Well, they all have compulsory military service so that is part of why they give them special treatment on Men's Day. I think it's really nice. They also visit their female relatives, like grandmothers and stuff, on Women's Day and give them a flower or just spend time with them, it's really cute.

Yesterday I had a meal at a restaurant here in Portugal and after every woman finished her meal she got a special slice of cake delivered to her by a waiter just as an expression of celebrating that she's a woman, for the day that it was. I thought it was so cute. (I couldn't eat it because I'm allergic to eggs but my boyfriend enjoyed his women's day treat!)

aww they're really nice things to do Makes it a bit more personal. It's very odd how some people seem threatened by IWD almost, from stuff I've been reading online
