And the dine in meal deals where you get three courses and a bottle of wine for a tenner
That said I don't know whether the struggle facing those chain restaurants is the same as the one facing high street retailers |

What I don't get is some store are trying to save them from closing by paying cheaper rent why not pay cheaper rent in the first place

Probably because there was more competition for the premises originally and more money was being spent on the high street so landlords could charge more rent. They also probably hope that landlords could cut them some slack if they've been renting the property for years and years
