SD may be popular but it's extremely toxic a lot of the time and causes most of the forums issues between members, and I have no doubt guests can be put off joining from what they see in there.

It’s a serious debates forum and is par for the course. Digital Spy is just the same. There are other sections for those who want to discusss less inflammatory issues.

Yep, I mean the environment is toxic because it seems all manners and etiquette are thrown out the door and instead of actually debating, members seem to just argue, insult and lose Ann sense of others feelings. I'm not naming names because I'm not there enough and not baiting anyone but it happens and the SD regulars are blind to it.

No of course I don't read all of the posts - some of it I don't have an opinion on - but sometimes if the topic interests me I'll have a look. I don't see why I should have to post either, I can do what I like Either way, people like me will post there once and be crucified for having a differing opinion instead of sensibly debating.

In regards to what experience of political debate I have it's really none of your business and shouldn't affect my ability to join in in the section - but if you must know I competed in an Inter-Schools Debate 4 years running (finished in 2016) and argued points such as freedom of expression within teens of the 21st Century (the lack of it), and other things like immigration and prices of healthy food compared to unhealty. I was the Head Chairman for one year to.

To add to this I was part of a Youth Debate in the Houses of Parliament in 2014 I do believe which didn't really count for anything but gave us a bit more co fidence in talking about serious issues.

And now I'm part of the Student Parliament at my college, which may not be political based debate, but features the same basic fundemental skills.

Is that enough to satisfy your understanding I have no experience of political debate?

So tell me LT, what's your experience of Political Debate.

So you dont really have any experience and you dont participate?

Am I right in saying you dont own a house, have a full time job, drive a car or have children?

Of course I don't own a house but I know what goes into running it and don't take money for granted. I don't have a full time job because I'm actually In full time education in preparation for a lifelong career. I'm learning to drive so I don't get your point there. And if I had children at 16, which I don't, I'm sure you'd be judging the hell out of me anyway so it's not relevant.

I'm not going further off topic and I'm not having you downgrade my worthy experience so if you actually want to be a grown up and talk about this then you can DM me

I agree with Blurryface, and also Jordan’s post in the “would you like to see Serious Debates getting removed” thread about joining to have a “serious debate” in a primarily Reality TV forum or something along those lines...

Maybe you could create a “Serious Debates” social group instead, the main forum itself would be much more organised and more positive while the SD regulars can bicker there, I’m just saying my opinions so if you object then it’s fine with me...

Cry me a river...

How about a cry baby forum for those snowflakes who can't handle an adult debate?
