the law is open to various interpretations, hes guilty of a few things. but he isnt a kidnapper, hes not a child molestor. whether they had consensual sex will also be a major factor in his sentence. it is also legal to be with a 15 year old in france, which I didnt realise. interesting question for you, if she was 16 and the same thing happened. what would the reaction be?

A few might be saying that he still abused his role as a teacher, but there wouldnt be anywhere near this amount of outcry from people. Infact I'm not even sure the media would have picked up on it tbh if it was not for her age.

its bigger then just those two it the school as well and how there did not tell the parents what was going on

Oh definitely. I will never get my head around the school allowing him to still teach there while investigating him. Apparently there have been similar cases at the same school a few times before too :S

I'm sure loads of teenage girls will now speak out about the depravity of this man. I'm sure lots of new lurid allegations will now surface.

Perhaps the BBC can make a TV programme about it ...!!!

Probably would have been seeing as he was still her married teacher and they fled off to France together without telling anyone, it would still make for an interesting story that the press would lap up

What he done was wrong and deserves punishment, but he didn't really abduct her and that shouldn't be the charge.

Wouldn't be too surprised if she was more willing to go run off to France than him.

That girl is a child and that man was her teacher and abused his position. He should have had more sense than she did.

I believe what he did was wrong, especially in light of the fact he was her teacher. Unforgivable... but I'm a little tired of hearing this girl referred to like she is a complete innocent in all this. We all know how provocative and manipultive fifteen year old girls can be, especially those of us who can remember being a fifteen year old girl. I think I said before, but it's worth repeating... the age of criminal responsibility in the UK is ten years old. That means that by ten, you understand the difference between right and wrong. You have to assume then, at fifteen, she fully understood what she was doing. I agree he should be prosecuted and never teach again, but I also think this "poor innocent" girl should be shouldering some of the blame.

I know that, I was a 15 year old girl once but what I'm saying is, as a 30 year old, married teacher, it was his responsibility not to cross the line with a girl of that age and a student
