A day the birds refused to sing
The stillness of your face A fragment of my heart removed, vacated, empty space Heart wrenching cry, a kiss goodbye I search but cannot find Could the hands upon a clock so easily rewind? To be with you, to hold your hand and guide you to your light and know the battle had been won Although you lost the fight They say you're in a better place but this I cannot see What better place than on this earth right here, right now with me The birds are singing once again Sweet messangers of song I hear the whisper of your voice 'I'm here my love, be strong' |

Hello peeps, I've not been in the forum for a long time and remember about the poetry forum, I love to write poetry.
I am a carer and I wrote this with the elderly in mind. I hope you like it Duty of Care Dark nights are upon us Yes, Winter’s on it’s way Our fires will burn brightly To keep the cold at bay But what about the old folks Who can’t afford the bills They’ll shiver in their homes Hypothermia sometimes kills Some may be so lonely As no one ever calls They just sit in their rooms Looking only at four walls Lets think about our old folk That may be feeling sad A little call upon them Then they may not feel so bad As fellow human beings We have a duty of care To make our old peoples day A little easier to bear A small amount of our time Could bring a smile upon their face Making them feel happy Restoring faith in the human race ©

I was walking on a path in the mountains, and was inspired to write this...
The air is fresh, Feeding the lungs with each lush breath. The calm, soothing silence, of a forest well aware. Waiting, anticipating, for something to appear. It's breath held in, as I exhale gently. We in turn, wait for the other, no need to hurry, Time is slowing down.

A Year Ends
And so, it ends The year, my friends It ends how it begun Better believe it, my son Too many celebs died They tried to hide But Death got them all They heard the call. But not let's all be glum Feel lucky, my chum You're still alive and well Go out and tell The world you're still here And raise a glass of beer. ![]() |

Remembering Mother
As Mothers Day approaches I’m feeling awful sadness But then when I look back That feeling turns to gladness The gladness that I feel Is because you were my Mother If I could have chosen one Wouldn’t wanted any other You see my dearest Mother You had kindness in your eyes Your heart was full of love And you were always oh so wise You taught me kindness matters How to spread much love and care You gave out cuddles daily And you were always there Whilst I cannot give you cuddles now I hope from Heaven that you see I’m doing all I can To be the best person I can be Thank you my beautiful Mother For teaching me right from wrong As I lay flowers at your grave I’ll sing you a beautiful song I Love & Miss You Mummy ©Tozzie

Your World
BY GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON Your world is as big as you make it. I know, for I used to abide In the narrowest nest in a corner, My wings pressing close to my side. But I sighted the distant horizon Where the skyline encircled the sea And I throbbed with a burning desire To travel this immensity. I battered the cordons around me And cradled my wings on the breeze, Then soared to the uttermost reaches With rapture, with power, with ease! Iconic ![]()

A little poem I wrote myself
YOU AND I You and I Our love, is true. Like the one between the sun, And the moon. Where the sea meets the sky There we'll be, You- and I. Last edited by Wizard.; 13-01-2020 at 05:22 PM. |

I think the sun should stick to its own kind, i mean there is nothing wrong with dating Proxima Centauri.
The moon should reign in its thirst and maybe look to some clubs around Saturn to get some satellite action |

Music fills my ears as my eyes fill with tears
Remembering loved ones lost throughout the years The end can come at any time A depressing thought at the back of your troubled mind But life is a never ending test It’s never a fail if you have given your best So hold your head up high and fcuk the rest |

O dreams! Where has your sweetness vanished?
And where has youth (glib rhyme) been banished? Can it be true, it's bloom has passed, Has withered, withered now at last? Can it be true my heyday's ended- All elegiac play aside- That now indeed my spring has died (As I in jest so oft pretended)? And is there no return of youth? Shall I be thirty soon, in truth? And so life's afternoon has started, As I must now admit, I see. But let us then as friends be parted, My sparkling youth, before you flee! I thank you for your host of treasures, For pain and grief as well as pleasures, For storms and feasts and worldly noise, For all your gifts and all your joys; My thanks to you. With you I've tasted, Amid the tumult and the still, Life's essence...and enjoyed my fill. Enough! Clear-souled and far from wasted, I start upon an untrod way To take my rest from yesterday __ That's my favourite section from Eugene Onegin which I read this year, it's so good I immediately finished it then went back and read it all again. I had just turned 30 when I read it so this felt very apt ![]() |

Alone in the darkness I lay awake
Memories of you to the grave I will take You were far from my first nor my last I’m living in the future but head is drowning in the past They say true love is the only one that lasts If only I could go back and change my past Last edited by thesheriff443; 18-12-2023 at 09:03 AM. |

If I had a gun I’d play Russian roulette just for fun
Each squeeze of the trigger would see my pupils grow bigger The end could come by my own shaky hand Taking the express route to the promised land But this time it’s just for fun It’s only blanks in that smoking gun |
