Hands off my Brick!
|
At the risk of being beaten up by everyone who was very happy about the ending this is what I think, it feels like they only made up that this was the way they were going to go at season 5 and then made the story suit the ending in the last 2 seasons. I really wished I loved as much as you all did but I just don't.

I reckon they knew most of the ending from the start, ( The Eye close + Vincent lying next to him they defiantly knew anyway ) the church scene pretty sure they had that idea from the get go as well.

Well ending it and starting it the same way is pretty easy even if you have no idea what's going to happen in between. Maybe they did have it all completely planned out but I don't think so.

Also what the hell was the point and/or purpose in the Temple and those characters in it? and that "test" that they did on Sayid in there????

The scene with Jack's eye closing and Vincent lying next to him has always been known for the ending. I can remember Matthew Fox saying during Season 3 that he knew what the ending would be, and he said on the Jimmy Kimmel show the other night that he has known for ages aswell. And the writers have always said that Vincent would live until the end.
The Temple was there because it was mentioned in earlier seasons and if they didn't show it people would still be moaning now about it being an unanswered question. |

I'm not sure how or why he came back to life, but when he did they ran the same test they ran on Claire (they said her results came back as bad aswell), so they knew he had been 'claimed' by MiB.
If they would have went to the Temple, and Sayid had not have killed Dogen, then MiB would have never been able to get in there at the candidates. So you can blame Sayid about the Temple ending up being useless. |

I was having a look through a Lost forum and I saw this posted by someone. This is also how I feel about it but he/she put it very well :
"The ending was emotionally satisfying, but not intellectually satisfying. To me the mythology of Lost was a critical element to the appeal of the show, and in the end anyone needing a sense of intellectual closure was left high and dry. Turns out the series was an elaborate soap opera in which the compelling mysteries were just a prop"

Also, I believe they kidnapped Walt as he had a special 'mind', although I don't think they ever followed up on that. Perhaps to look into child genetics, but i'm not entirely sure.

The actor of Walt aged too fast, they wrote him out of the show because of that. They orginally planned on explaining everything about him.
And The Others never wanted war with the 815'ers. Ethan was sent into the camp to find out who everyone was, ect. Then his mission was to get Claire so they could experiment on her because she was pregnant and they wanted an answer to the fertility problem. Ben (or Juliet) told Jack in season 3 that "Ethan acted alone, nobody was supposed to get hurt". And Goodwin went into the tail section survivors to do the same as Ethan, except he ended up wanting to recruit Ana-Lucia so stuck around. Eko killed two Others when they were taking the kids, they weren't harming anyone. |

![]() but yeah his purpose soon became clear soon after. And yeah that's true, David, cause I remember when he was shown in I think it was Season 4, he already looked too old for his part, so that would make sense. His story wasn't that crucial to the plot though, so I don't really mind ![]()

how did Ben cure Juliet's sister, Rachel?
or did he ever actually do it? and ironically in the bible, 'Rachel' is Jacob's wife!

Just watched the finale again aswell...
Is sadder watching it and knowing that the characters know that their dead when they are getting their flashes and watching their reactions. So many good scenes aswell: MiB and Jack fight Desmond turning the light off Jack turning the light back on Jack's death Hurley asking Ben to be his #2 Sun and Jin getting their flashes Sawyer and Juliet getting their flashes Kate, Claire and Charlie getting their flashes Miles finding Richard's grey hair Was just such a good episode |

Here's a good explanation for Helen not being there with Locke:
For me the same way John Locke said to jack "you don't have a son" someone could have told John Locke "you don't have a Helen"-- John Locke completely blew it with Helen in his real life, irreversibly, but in his purgatory, the same way Jack somehow had a son, John had a Helen. I don't think Helen was part of the group of people who would have created this existenced for themselves the way Christian said the rest of them were. Penny however, would have been a part of the group, and more importantly she and Desmond WERE each other's constants, and no matter what it took to find each other, in any strange alternate anything you could think of. |
