…no she isn’t, Glenn…and that’s one of the huge problems with misinformation because it all then begins to be hijacked by agenda in a culture war situation and Imane has been a victim of that and also of ‘what a woman should look like’…but for me, the is very layered because there are lots of women in the Olympics and in combat sport…so, as a female…?…my concern obviously is also that there are no ‘advantaged athletes’…and I honestly don’t know whether that applies to Imane or not…

You only have to read this thread to see that the whole thing has been hijacked. Members of this forum openly posting transphobic comments and the fact they’re comfortable doing so says an awful lot about the hostile society we live in. How much further will it slip? Only time will tell.

In this case I agree that there maybe should have been more thought given, weight wise? I don’t watch boxing so don’t know the ins and outs.

Angela Carini has apologised and wants to personally apologise to Imane and I think that is the right thing to do. She has caused an unnecessary uproar in an already volatile subject matter. Lots of ignorant, hateful people in the world and on here.

…yeah, Imane is obviously eligible to compete in a female category because she is female…but I think also…(…for me anyway…)…elevated testerone levels would factor as well because it’s obviously about Imane’s safety but the wider safety that it’s about, is female competitors in sports events…?…this is an interesting and layered case and potentially it could have opened up discussions because there are many people who are eager to have those…but sadly, it’s another agenda hijacking …I did read an article this morning that celebrities who spoke out in criticism of Imane are apologising so that’s good to hear…and yeah, there’s no criticism to be had of Angela Carini…she reacted in a moment because of extreme disappointment …but then the internet took over, sadly…leaving Angela and Imane and all women as the victims of their war games…

There are some forum members who dont quite get the advantages that Miss Khalif has over her opponents so I've posted what I think is a good example. The fight starts at about 12 minutes in

We now know that Holyfield was juicing before this fight and you can see the clear advantage the steroids have given him. Pretty much from the first round every time the two fighters come together Holyfield is pushing forward and Tyson is going backward. Many times Holyfeild simply pushes Tyson away with force. Thats the advantage of being stronger and more powerful gives you. You are able to push your opponent to where ever you want them to go. And this is Mike Tyson he's fighting not a mug

People say that she's lost so it must be even. No that means she's rubbish and looking at her fight her footwork is poor and she looks a bit of a one trick pony. I have nothing against her I just dont think she's a very good fighter.

I see her next opponent is not happy about fighting her and I can see why. She should not be competing but I think she cant move up a level from what I've seen

IF they were pros then I'd have no issue with any of this but at amateur level - where its about the love of the sport - this is not what I want to see..

I largely agree and would boil it down to that I believe there's a conversation to be had - but there's currently no world in which to have these conversations. Not in public view, anyway.

If it comes down to this ACTUAL case I'm far more hard line when it comes to the basics: I don't think combat sports should be a thing. Full stop. I ppreciate that there's risk in any sport but any sport where the primary intent is to cause physical damage to each other should have been left in the Colosseum. So ultimately I don't think the gender, weight category, or anything else SHOULD be the focus... they just shouldn't be doing it. However while the world is still insisting that there's merit in it and wants to continue... the focus needs to be on it being done as safely as possible, not as inclusively as possible. In a nutshell.

I respect this point of view. I also think that the likes of KSI, Jake Paul do nothing for the credibility of the sport. Having jokers like those fight and get good ratings, makes people think the fight game is easy.

See now I actually manage to quite enjoy those daft influencer fights, because for one it's just dumb people with too much money doing dumb stuff (always fun) and for two I'm 99% sure it's basically WWE not a real fight.

My problem with those joke fights, is the actual fight is an afterthought. Its about scoring points at the weigh in, the press conference etc. SO when we get to the fight the sheep that follow it ignore the result and declare a winner due to what happened at all the events leading up to the fight. The Tommy Fury v KSI is a great example. Awful fight, joke of a fight, dog of a fight but some people actually think KSI won cuz of what happened before they even stepped into the ring. Its bizarre
