Personally I think they should regulate it rather than ban it so that people know what is in it and how they should use it. If they ban it, a replacement will spring up in it's place in no time.

One Mother on a phone in
this morning said her 17 year old daughter
justified using it as she bought is in a Legal Shop.

So a Ban is Needed now.

Well that's all well and good Arista but you and I both know that people will continue to buy illegal drugs and if mephadrone is made illegal more will take it's place, nothing is ever going to get rid of these things so It would make more sense to try and regulate it so people know how to take it more safely and also so that nothing terrible is going in to it

No, that's just a good reason why regulation is better than a ban. You know what happens when it gets banned? Criminals make money from it, the stuff's useage will either stay the same or go through the roof, and nobody will be any the wiser.

The mother of that 17year old Girl
will be better off
as it would be Illegal and then she can chuck her Daughter out
until she can be clean from the Illegal gear.

At this time
that mother is shocked as her Daughter
gets it from a Legal shop
so she can do nothing as its within the law.

So the daughter is better off buying Mephedrone from a dealer down a back alley - funding criminal activity - than buying it from a shop where they can offer advice and useage instructions?

What warped logic. People are going to use Mephedrone no matter what. You may as well regulate it and make it safer.

Regulated stores will provide the clean chemical after an ID request.

Drug dealers will sell a cut chemical to twelve year olds.

Which would you rather?

Life is so black and white for you aint it?

The mother could insist her daughter not use a substance like that, if it bothers her so much. Whether its legal or illegal.

Glue is legal to buy, doesnt mean its okay to sniff it does it?

I agree with the notion of regulation and I can't say anything more then what's been said really.

When it comes to legal highs and drugs as a whole I think Stu's points have been excellent. I've never touched drugs and I rarely drink but I think it's silly to brand someone idiotic because they choose to do so.

For the record I wouldn't touch Meph with a barge poll myself. However I am not stupid enough to think that I have moral authority to stop others from doing what they want to do with the neurons they were born with.

OK Shasown , never a hon.

The Mother tried to tell her
but that Daughter had the 'It's Legal' banner.

Ban it
as schools also have to give it back to kids
as those kids say it is Legal, as well.

Methamphetamine and Mephedrone are two different drugs. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Again, people are going to use Mephedrone anyway. What's better, buying it clean with proper information and dosage instructions in a regulated world or buying it impure from a drug dealer?

That's a straight question. It would be lovely if I could get a straight answer.

That's got nothing to do with the question, which is hypothetical ...

I wonder will this story be carried as heavily by the press.

Nope I dont think it will be.

It would mean most of the media induced hype was wrong. And the media dont admit to mistakes because they dont make mistakes, they give us balanced reporting of stories with facts not hyperbole.
