Has she got form like?

edit : Oh and I was just quoting her for being a tit and saying it. I wasn't even suggesting that she would do it for real.

They'd probably find her under the duvet every five minutes.

Am I missing something why would you need/think you need qualifications to go on BB?

haha fair point.

All i will say on this about people saying "oh everyone does it"

I wouldn't do it for fear of being caught out. I can understand if you don't think you have a good CV you would want to make stuff up though it is only human nature, insecurity or what ever.

Yes, you're missing something. If you read the beginning of the thread you'll see it was about josie making a comment about making up qualifications she didnt have (not to get on bb tho). It has now generated a mass debate about lying on cv's.

I wouldn't normally defend Josie but I don't see much harm coming from faking a few GCSEs, it's not like she's practising medicine fraudulently.

Aside from entry to higher education when they are obviously a good indicator of a person's ability to apply themselves to study, providing the person is numerate and literate, (which would soon become obvious if they weren't) I can't really see any benefits to a potential employer.

I certainly fibbed about the grades obtained in my O levels/CSEs (for the younger members, GCSEs for old people!) but to be honest, after my first job, nobody even asked.

It matters - would you like a nurse or doctor looking after you who wasn't properly qualified - or a mechanic fixing your families car who wasn't qualified to fix it properly, or a builder to build your house who wasn't suitably skilled, knowledgeable or qualified - etc - the list goes on!

It is important not only for safety reasons but to ensure people get the service they pay for!

Dont be rediculous lol when you go for a job as a nurse or a mechanic etc you are provided with extensive training lol

You dont become a nurse or a a doctor from getting a's in your G.C.S.E'S lol

One of the most stupidest responses ive ever read on tibb

You can't of read many responses then!

Yes you are provided with extensive training for those professions but you need to get the grades to get on your training in the first place! Lying about qualifications only serves to waste other people's time and money! Certainly it has been known for people to slip through the net - although much harder nowadays because people's qualifications are thoroughly checked!

But their are many jobs where you don't receive such extensive training that still require certain skills and abilities/qualifications in order to provide a safe and effective service to customers/clients!

And nobody deserves anything to be handed to them on a plate - they have to work for it like everybody else!

All jobs provide the right training and if they dont then thats the employers fault. My mum didnt do very well in school coz she had to look after her dad/my grandad who was poorly throughout her child hood. After many years of factory jobs and general crapness she started training o be a nurse with no qualifications.

Anyway now shes in charge of 3 wards at Prince Charles Hospital in Wales and im proper proud of her.

Cant believe you think that to become a doctor you need g.c.s.e's lol this is wrong. You would have to go to uni and get qualifications in medical studies theres no way you could possibly become a nurse/doctor without them.

G.c.s.e's are worthless in those type of proffesions

I myself got a sales job which paid Ł23,000 a year when i was 21 all because i lied about my qualifications and previous work experience i was good at the job thats all that mattered.

Its dog eat dog mate we all need jobs and some people didnt get the best start in life but can progress in their careers. Work experience is far more effective than a stupid little qualifacation they earned when they were a 15 year old kid

Well I guess it depends what she was selling and at what level ie a sales manager! If, for instance, the job required a knowledge and understanding of maths ie percentages, ratios - and a maths qualification was required for the job - and she faked it - she might not be able to do the job effectively and provide both the employer and the customer with the service they are entitled to.

My c.v says i have 3 b's which is a lie. I did very poor in school and i think its wrong to judge someone going for a potential job on exams they sat when they were a 15 year old child!

My CV is truthful. Well.. I still don't have my level 2 ICT skills certificate.. I have been meaning to ring college about that but I am sure I have passed it. I have been in the same job though for like over a year.. I hope they give me full time then I am sorted..hopefully don't need to keep updating my CV!!

I did okay in GCSES.. I got my C's in Maths and Enlish Lang and a B in English Lit (well I did fail Maths first time round, retook it.. and got a C)

I got double D in Science.. wish I got double C.. it will cost me like hundreds of pounds to retake my science though.. I don't need it.. but would have been nice if I got double C in it!! ahh well

Ooo I also have Btec National Diploma worth 3 alevels!! I got a pass in that. It was either pass, merit or distinction. I got merit in a few units though!

I would have gone to university if I didn't have the job I have now.. but that would have been for the sake of it!!

If something happens.. like.. if I end up loosing the job I have now.. mm might go travelling or something!! lol but I am quite content in the job I have now

Anyway.. back to the point of the topic.. I think it is okay.. to tell a few porkies if you really want the job!! lol

I feel sorry for the girl who genuinely had gcses and a levels.. she applied for over 200 jobs.. got rejected.. she got so depressed she killed herself poor girl!!

I think in sales though.. if you are like 16 looking for a job then you have more chance in sales because the company pay a 16 year old less than an 18 year old?

but anyways times are tough and you just have to grab whatever job there is available.. even if it does seem.. "beneath you".

Josie comes across as not that bright at times so I think she would be sussed out before long if she was in a job where any real qualifications were of any importance.
As to lying about it, I agree it should be a criminal offence, why shoud someone work hard to get to uni etc and get into debt once there if it was okay just to lie about it?
