Dannii is a good mentor but only when it suits and its usually when you can tell she genuinely likes the contestants e.g. Leon in her first year (she completely shafted one of the guys in her category and Rhydian managed to get by on his talent). In series 5 she hated Rachel and gave her bad choices to the point where Rachel started picking herself and she didn't get Ruth right until about week 6 or 7. She did well last year though

I didn't like Nicolo at all, thought he had a bit of a diva attitude tbh, but he did have a fairly decent voice, he was good at judge's houses, but he looked like an idiot on the live show. Noone should ever try and sing a Gaga song, it just doesn't work.

She's a great judge, just not all that great with the mentoring. And as for whoever said her acts don't have a problem with her - do you not remember the song and dance Rachel Hylton made about Dannii's mentoring?!

Rachel herself has said that that was blown all out of proportion and that she had no right to complain about anything, saying she was acting like a diva basically and she regrets it now.

I liked Nicolo doing Lady Gaga actually. Well problem was it didn't really show off his vocals. I hope Danni's other 3 boys do well.

She's very underrated, if you want a rubbish mentor then look no further then Cheryl. She was completely lucky last year and it was Simon's choice of song that made Alexandra a competitor in her year. The woman can't pick good songs to save her life half the time. Danni's a lot more on the mark and generally more consistant.
The worst is Louis though, the man's stuck in the 90's. Any time he's ever got to the final it's been out of luck of having the favourite (Shayne) or because he had an act that he couldn't **** up if he tried (JLS). Simon's the best mentor really with Dannii as a close second while she's easily the best judge. |

Simon's by far the best mentor; Dannii's the best judge.

Always thought Cowell was a decent judge, but this year more than ever he has his favourites, and, apart from NO Direction, they are in Cheryl's category. I like Dannii, but a perfect mentor she isn't. Louis...oh dear. And Cheryl....lucky lucky lucky. Her contract says she cannot have the oldies or the groups lol.

Also no mater what the events a year or so after the results, Dannii is also the 'only' judge and mentor to ever have had both winner and runner up in any X Factor and from the start of that particular X Factor series few people would have had Rhydian and Leon Jackson anywhere near their top 2 of that series but she got them there.

I think most would have placed him at least top 3. Most would even have predicted him as the winner |

Rhydian would have won only for her toning him down to absolutely nothing. I'm telling you, she hasn't got a clue when it comes to song choices and styling.

She went mad with Go West and then decided to turn him far too serious, and that's not why he had gained popularity. He should have sang Phantom of the Opera on Final night but she opted for a safe, kinda drippy number. I mean, he sang Somewhere beautifully, but he'll be remembered for the crazy numbers.

Scroll down to the '15th December 2007 (Final)' bit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_X_F...UK_series_4%29 His first song was a Christmas one [O Holy Night], the second a duet [You Raise Me Up] and the third his favourite from the series [Somewhere]. |

Rhydian was also portrayed as the villain and a stubborn few wouldn't have changed their minds and voted against him in the final 2 I agree about Phantom of the Opera, I wasn't a Rhydian fan but that was one of the best performances ever on XF and very underrated
