How did I out my foot in it? I believe there was a man called Jesus.. I don't belive in god though. Umm.. where did I say "normal" punishment? I didnt. It was simply the punishment they used for Jesus, nothing normal about it, well it wouldnt be normal today. Back then crucifixition was a method of punishment, I dont see the problem with telling your daughter what used to be done.

You told her that Jesus was real, you didnt deny the existance of God, therefore it is logical for her to assume that what she heard about Jesus was correct. I dont care whether you think Christians are "barking" or not, but you cannot ignore the fact that Easter & Christmas exist because of Christianity and I'm not surprised the school discussed the origins behind the two holidays.

Look, you asked for members opinions and I gave you mine. That's fine if you dont agree with me but dont get wound up over what I say after you ask for input.

I'm not wound up at all.. not in the slightest. This thing we're doing is called deabte and is perfectly healthy and not personal in the slightest. I like you but also like the fact that we can discuss our differing opinions, hopefull without falling out..

However, I need to sleep so shall hit they hay now.

To be continued...

They are just saying what is said in the Bible, you may personally believe it is far fetched stories but I doubt they will. Why would crucifixtion be far fetched anyway? Personally, I dont think you can ignore the reason behind these holidays. If you dont believe in God fair enough, but the whole point of Easter is supposed to be to celebrate Jesus' resurrection so it's not that surprising that it was mentioned in an Easter service
"Easter" came from the Pagans, and the Christians stole it. That's just a historical fact.

Oh I don't think there are any laws involved really.. I'm not bothered about them learning about religion, as long as they are taught about other religions too and don't have Christianity rammed down their throat and told that that's the only religion! I just think that for infants, the school makes things a bit graphic

That can be pretty hard to explain to a child! Why show it at such a young age? They're not going to understand the whole extent of it all

That's kinda how I feel.. I mean, I've nothing against the yearly nativity play, they always make it fun and it's lovely to see and they are made aware of Jesus and the xmas story through that, but to show them a film of Jesus having a nail hammered through his wrist whilst alive (this is what seems to have upset her the most;the fact that he was alive) is IMO a little OTT for 6 year olds..

This is why schools have become to PC and 'Health and Saftey'. The story of Jesus' crucifixition shouldn't be taught at christmas time as it is not the correct time as it happened.

Your daughter is going to be exposed to religion, she will make up her own mind on the matter and probably like you decide its a load of rubbish.

the video is a bit worrying for me, depends on how graphic the film was. I remember being shown one of it and for my age then it was too graphic. This is the only bit you should be annoyed about i think.
