Let's not sugar coat things, Sex is an important part of any relationship, and if you are disfigured to the point that you are not physically attractive yu will be lonely. Even if you have enuf money to attract someone, you will still know deep down that yu are physically repulsive and not physically attractive to that person, so really you are cheating that person out of a fullfilling sex life. that's incredibly selfish.

I'm not sugar coating things Alex.. I'm talking about me personally ad I do have two young children and I have a terrible fear of anything happening to me and not being there for them or seeing them grow up.

However, I do agree with you.. I'm not so sure if I'd feel so lucky if I was single and childless.

I didn't mean you were sugar coating things, i just meant in general. Obviously you having children completely rules your perspective, i'm sure you would endure any torture and any suffering you had to if it meant seeing your children just 1 more time. Any parent would i assume.

I would feel lucky, but I don't think I would be happy. Depends which stage of life I was in. If I had kids I'd probably be overjoyed I hadn't left them. But if it was like in my 20s then id probably hate it because it would stop you from doing so many things and the likelyhood is that I wouldn't find a partner and it would cause me to be alone.

Unlucky. If I had a serious disfigurement it would affect my whole existance in a negative way that would make life unbearable.

I would rather have survived, obviously it would be really hard to come to terms with but my kids are young and I would definitely rather be around for their sake, to make sure they're ok and see them grow up

Life is about more than just partnering though. So i'd be happy to be alive with or without anyone else's love. I love myself enuf to not need to burden anyone else.

I would feel lucky they not finish me off.
The attackers would be feeling very unlucky cos I would hunt them down and go all Keyzer Soze on their arse.
Then I would become a vigilante comic book character, think up a cool name for myself, get armed with lots of guns, grenades and do training.
Hunt down criminals and wipe them out until dead or captured
