I seriously think the show should of ended and stopped from going on any TV channel in the UK for at least 2-3 years at best. The show producers could then go back and review it for a few years and decide what to do to improve the show.

Channel 4 should of kept it. Should of left it alone for 2-3 years and then come back to it and see if it has improved and got better ratings.

Strongly agree. At the very very least missing this Summer but yes I was thinking at least 2 years.
And 3 is even better.

I'm convinced they made a mistake running the reboot this Summer and we are already seeing the downside - rushed applications seemingly made-up on the go, some kind of haphazard social networking schemes, no clear line on feeds or start dates.

To the OP - honestly not just trying to be NEGATIVE as if for the sake of being cynical.
But there is some 'bad signs'. more than a few. Just saying.

From everything I've heard it does sound like utter trash. Especially with the people involved. Ex HM's mostly. The should've got presenters nobody has heard of.

Which is why (if its true) I am more excited for the return of BBAU. Its been gone for a few, & for the best. The last series was such crap they needed to end it. The UK should have at least taken 2 summers off. Not only to see if people would still be interested in it but to take their time to reformat it somehow. Looks to me like C5 just wanted to cash in on the name. & like I said earlier dig the grave a bit deeper.

I thought that at first but series are rarely successful once taken off the screens and then brought back later.
I accept BB is different but I think taking it off would have reduced its chances for success in the future.

I think the best chance of keeping it going is to have it back on TV this year as has been decided and keep some continuity going. Channel 5 will not expect the ratings it got on Channel 4 but I have no doubt BB will be their biggest ratinngs series.

In the end I think Channel 4 were worried as to complaints and all the hassle, they would have interfered with production so much it would have been further run down.

But why Channel 5? It is NOT a good channel for this sort of show. You can see it is going to fail already. What in my opinion should of happened is take it off for a year or 2 and just review it from the Channel 4 producers, see what you can do with it and what to improve. Bring it back and see what happens.

Review what housemates you put in, try to change a good number of things on the show.

Lets remember what happened with CBB, it went off TV and came back and the last CBB series was fantastic and i thought entertaining. So it did put some light back into the show. Perhaps the same might happen with BB.

Channel 4 no longer wanted it though, had Channel 5 (who do want it) not jumped in then BB may have been lost for good.

Channel 5 jumped in and took Neighbours from BBC and Home and Away from ITV, they have lost some viewers bu on channel 5 are still seen as assets to have.
BB will maybe do better for longer on Channel 5. Channel 4 were ditching it, I am really glad Channel 5 got in and claimed it and saved it.

But how will it do better for longer? They need to get good ratings at first and also produce it well. I think they might change it too much and it will end up not being Big brother at all.

Because Channel 5s expectancy of ratings and therefore success are far lower than BBC,ITV and Channel 4s.

Success on Channel 5 will only need 1.5 to 2 million viewers, I think they will get that and that will be seen as a great success for Channel 5, I have little doubt that BB will, for the next 2 years at least, be the biggest rated thing on Channel 5, they will not then want to lose any of that in the future.

It will also bring in far more lucrative advertising to Channel 5 and BB will also be a great vehicle for placement advertising too. On paper, it really cannot fail on Channel 5, it already was on Channel 4.

Will Channel 5 not be buying this and pumping the money into it to get higher ratings than that? Ok, it might be good on Channel 5 with ratings like that but what about the quality of the show? Have Channel 5 rushed in to it too quickly?

These are important questions in my view as it might end up getting such ratings like you say, early on and then the show fails for quality.

Maybe they will push for higher ratings than that but the main point is 1.5 to 2million ratings regularly nightly are something Channel 5 can only dream of at present, they could get more if BB fans follow the series as avidly as before.

As for jumping in too quickly, they would have had to in case any other source was interested in taking on BB,as for jumping in too quickly and having it on TV this year, no, certainly not, they will want to capitalise on all it was before and hopefully give it a fresh look while still very fresh in its followers minds.

Also as for the quality of the show, it could not possibly be worse than the last 2 series on Channel 4 who simply lost faith in BB and allowed the then production team to virtually run it down.

As with all on all the threads on BB at present on here, we can only speculate as to what may happen but ratings as I have outlined will have Channel 5 rubbing their hands with glee and if they are higher then Channel 5 will be ecstatic.

I am very optimistic, I think it will work and be a huge success for Channel 5,it hasn't got to achieve much to be seen as a great success on Channel 5 either.
