Do you not enjoy the time off work you get on most of the holidays?

Given the very commercial aspect of Christmas these days: it must be a horrible time for those who are really struggling financially - parents who have kids who want the latest designer gear, ipads, iphones, etc so they don't feel 'left out'.

When you think about it things like that, it's no wonder some people really don't look forward to Christmas.

Do they let the kids down.

Do they bow to pressure and end up paying for it for the rest of the year.

Familes who don't get on, feeling obliged to buy for those they really cannot stand.

Having to play happy families when you can't stand them etc.

There are loads of reasons to not like Christmas and fair enough.

How about Festivus instead?

Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 as a way to celebrate the holiday season without participating in its pressures and commercialism. It was created by writer Dan O'Keefe and introduced into popular culture by his son Daniel, a screenwriter for the TV show Seinfeld,as part of a comical storyline on the show. The holiday's celebration, as shown on Seinfeld, includes an unadorned aluminum "Festivus pole", practices such as the "Airing of Grievances" and "Feats of Strength", and the labeling of easily explainable events as "Festivus miracles". Celebrants of the holiday sometimes refer to it as "a Festivus for the rest of us", a saying taken from the O'Keefe family traditions and popularized in the Seinfeld episode to describe Festivus' non-commercial aspect.

Same with those who have lost loved ones (especially if they died at this time of year) wouldn't find it quite so wonderful.

I have many reasons not to like it or to feel that it's not the most wonderful time of year, but I happen to still like it ansd still enjoy it:

I don't' however think it's amusing to rip the piss out of those who might have very good reasons not sharing my views - I like to think I can see both sides of the coin, so to speak.

But hey, each to their own.

You can take it up with Andy Williams then, I just posted the video as a jokey response to Arista's hate for Christmas, no need for you to jump on it

I agree in a way, I lost my Mum 3 weeks before Christmas, but I also know that she would be mad with me if I didn't live my life and enjoy things. It's all about how people handle it I suppose.

Arista views are rather degrading, Christmas isn't just for children. There's a way of putting your views across without doing it in such a hell bent and miserable way. This thread is apparently for people who hate Christmad but the poster seems to only be the one at the minute. The way his postings come across are quite trollish.

You still have no right to bring my post count into it. You obviously feel your shoes are filled very heavy. Quite uppy and cliquey, to the point you'd single me out and rubbish me because of post count.

Post count doesn't make your opinion any more valid than mine

The issue of your post count was addressed on this thread by a mod and has not been raised again since - by anyone else, - other than you since you have come back onto the thread and it appears you are trying to get some extreme mileage out of something that has already been addressed - by a moderator. A point you will note that I took on board thereafter.

As for your other comments the least I say about that, the better.
