LMAO because their app was down on their servers. Clearly thats why it glitched which initiated this thread. It's working again, yes i said again cause C5 did no block foreign votes, without an IP Shield. Using an IP shield isnt illegal or fraud, it just means you are clever enough to think of it.

...anyway, how mad are you at last nights results?

Default Can people outside the UK/Ireland vote?

I was just wondering if people living outside of the UK and Ireland can vote in CBB. I personally don't think they should be allowed to vote. I think voting should be restricted to only people living in the UK and Ireland, whatever their nationality. The reason is that if anyone around the world can vote it can potentially turn into a situation where people from abroad vote for the celebrity from their own country because of national preference or because that's the only one they really know and the larger countries will have more influence.

Hypothetically if there was a chinese celebrity who comes onto UK CBB and even just 5 percent of the population of China decide they want to make him win then it's contest over because 5 percent of China is the same as the entire population of the UK. He will definately will purely because of nationality.
International voting is subject to nationalist bias and can't really work.

Thinking back to the CBB where Shilpa won. I don't know if voting was open to the international audience too but if it was then maybe with india being almost as populated as China, and she is a big celebrity there, that indians voted in large numbers and influenced the vote.

Leaving people out cus they are from different countries is just stupid

I doubt very many Americans watch/care about BB tbh not enough to influence the vote anyway. I don't even think they can vote anyway, I know a few American members here have said they can't.

I can see this being used as the excuse though if the Twins or Michael win

I live in America and I can vote. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to - it's my favorite show and I have as much right to be a part of it as you do. I can't exactly help living here.

You would think the British public would be happy their show is popular in other countries. I wonder why you can vote though but other Americans on here can't

in principle yes you should be allowed to but in practice there are problems associated with international voting
I know that most americans don't watch CBB UK but let's say they could vote, then in a country of 300 million, if americans who are fans of Michael Madsen or the twins decide they want them to win and organise to vote in large numbers then it's not really fair on the british housemates

perhaps it's less true for americans but for other countries, like the example of China I gave in the opening post, it could be a potential problem

It's ridiculous to assume people would support a housemate simply because they have the same nationality.

I would hope that International viewers aren’t as xenophobic as some viewers from this country have proven themselves to be. I go for housemates that I find entertaining etc, I don’t think “England versus America”.

it's not just that
people in america don't have a clue who any of the other housemates are
the twins and Michael already have fans there
so although people may like the UK housemates after watching them, they will have some catching up to do in terms of numbers of fans for Michael and the twins
and national preference is a factor too, there's no denying it
and in a big country like america, even if most viewers are fair, if the fans of Michael or the twins decide they would like to see their favourite winning a competition then that's not fair
even if british people do the same, the vote will be split into many housemates so it's less of a problem

Really, I doubt voting from outside the UK is going to be a huge problem or affect the outcome, ...

bottom line is CBB struggles for ratings in the UK...so it is HIGHLY unlikely that there are huge numbers following it in other countries

NO ,and to do so is FRAUD ,this from Channel 5 voting rules and conditions "Voting is intended for viewers watching the show in the UK. Responsibility cannot be accepted for any vote services promoted outside the UK and Channel Islands as these are not within our control. Channel 5 reserves the right to disallow votes if they have reasonable grounds to suspect they have been made from outside the UK (and Channel Islands)."
Please note the fraud being done by USA fans AS been reported to channel 5 and offcom
