Reading more about it this morning it seems it was a pact between, UK, US, and 3 other countries called '5 eyes' (sorry can't post links)
Tackling the threat of terrorism and trafficking being the objective. I don't see a connection with this and the accusations that are now being made, that threatening the privacy of the internet is undemocratic...
I see it as 2 separate issues, the threat to national security and the political censorship...
You can't blame Labour for the latter as it's happening now, they are being lumped in together as subterfuge imo.
