Idgi why you're so hellbent on talking **** about religion.. if people want to keep their faith, then just let them get on with it. Don't see the point in making anti-religion threads constantly when religion is something that doesn't affect you.

It matters because tons of people are being bullied/murdered/raped/abused by religions every single Effing day on this planet. and the only excuse they give for doing is "it's my religion, it's my tradition, it's my culture".

Sorry but that's not good enough. it's BS.

That's called religious extremism.. which is not the same as the majority of believers in this country who practice their religion but love and accept anyone else who does not.

Well I'm still waiting for the major religions to say that gay people are just as natural and normal as straight people, still waiting for most religions to say that people of other religions are just as holy/beautiful/special as the people of their own religions, i'm still waiting for most religions to say that men and women are 100% equal and should be treated 100% the same...

when is that going to happen from the major religions?

You're making the same misconception again.

You cannot group together every single believer in a religion and demand a singular response, different people in that religion believe different things. Most of the people in these groups, in Europe at least, already believe in equality..

but, don't you see, its the religions that are grouping people together...

HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THAT? It's the religions that are trying to segregate people and create rules and beliefs that make differences between people and every religion tries to say that they are the special ones, the right ones, the smart ones, the beautiful ones, the HOLY ones...

HOW do you NOT see that???

well maybe you should come up with a new name for you "civilized" christians then... and stop associating with the bad ones... and start confronting them in a meaningful way, and taking the power away from the mean ones, because it seems like it's the mean ones that have all the power.

That wasn't me saying I was a Christian it was me suggesting that the idea that European Christians not being lumped in with the rest of the religious intolerants of the world is ridiculous. There is, was and ever will be just as there are for other religions.

You're referring to my cousin who is a physicist. You saying that there aren't that many means nothing.

"Despite the fact that I said that more than half of the scientists don't believe in God, many scientists do believe in both science and God, in a perfectly consistent way."

Richard Feynman, theoretical physicist and an atheist.

Scientific top trumps?

There may be babblers, wholly ignorant of mathematics, who dare to condemn my hypothesis, upon the authority of some part of the Bible twisted to suit their purpose. I value them not, and scorn their unfounded judgment.

Copernicus ... I win.
