Political correctness mainly exists, not to "police" how others may define terms but to limit the implied bigotry, intolerance and ignorance in using words that at best offend and at worst, discriminate. We may have free speech but if we don't excercise respect for others while using it; then like children we must be told what is innapropriate language to use. I am old enough to remember a time when it was allowed to use words of hate and intolerance and I do not want to return to those times.

Exactly. Like everything else "Political correctness" can be over done but that doesn't mean that everything Politically correct is the world gone crazy either.

Unfortunately political correctness is perverted often to falsely accuse others of racism or sexism. These slanderous and false accusations should be treated as serious crimes too. To even up the balance and get back to the real arguments and the facts of the matter. PC tends to overly protect some groups and leaves the obvious white male as the only beast in the room that everyone can slander

Ahhhh so... this is all starting to come together now. You don't like being called sexist for your... err... sexist views about women, so you want to label all of it "PC gone mad", so that you can share your odd issues with women with everyone and not be called out on those views?

Seeing as PC is being leveled as a slur I'm going to take being accused of being 'PC' as a really offensive insult now as that is the obvious intention, it's a snide way of denigrating anyones view as total rubbish as it does not conform.
