To be fair I went to the groups six chairs challenge and 1 think they didn't show was that Rak Su actually done two performances the first one was a cover of Touch by Littlemix and the judges didn't like it Simon said they are better at original songs and they should stick at it then they sang their original song after which won the judges over

I'm not watching this year but I think it's only a good thing.

There's no way Janet Devlin or Abi Alton would've been eliminated at the point they were if they'd been allowed to perform original songs. It gives an artist more of a chance to show who they are rather than what the show is trying to make them be (sure it's a singing competition, but the purpose of the show is to find a star and this is what is gonna appeal to people in the long-run).

Also you could say it's an advantage because people are more ~wow'd by their original music, but maybe it's a disadvantage too because casual voters won't know the songs (and we all know some people based upon song choice) and sometimes it takes a few listens to really enjoy a song.

So yeah overall I think it's fine and it should've been done a long time ago.
