My phone is always on my bedside table every night fuly charged, mostly due to my dad having a long term illness and I have to be easily contacted by the hospital regardless of the time and I also use the alarm on it.

I take it to bed but turn it off and put it on my bedside cabinet. Basically I do this so I know where it is. If anyone needed to contact me in an emergency then I have a landline

I leave it on all night beside my bed charging since it's also my alarm. I might be guilty of picking it up and spending some time on it when I can't sleep however

Mostly on my desk across my room, on silent mode. So that I would not be disturbed by overnight spam on WhatsApp

would it kill any of you to buy a small quartz alarm clock?

(I know you use the alarm so you can grab your phone to see if you got any attention on social media while you slept..)

To all you who sleep in bed with it especially under your pillow it increases the risk of brain cancer

I listen to the Off Camera interviews in bed on the rare occasion a 10/10 isn't joining me, so my phone is in bed with me with my earphones plugged in.

I always switched off and left downstairs but recently a close friend needed me to be there - just in case so i took my phone to bed and what a flamin mistake that was ! 3rd night the phone was in my dressing gown pocket and when i took it off the phone must have hit the bed end as when i looked at it the next morning there was a diagonal crack from one side of the screen to the other

That's unproven, however, having a phone on charge under the pillow is at risk of having the battery overheat and explode . So probably not the BEST idea...

It's not 1992 LT; with modern batteries and the way they charge you won't notice any reduction in battery life for 4 or 5 years and most people don't keep their phone for anywhere near that long.

Even that says it takes a couple of years and is talking about iPhones which have notoriously poor battery lifespan.

I'm not saying it isn't bad for the battery; it is, eventually, but the sad fact is we live in a wasteful world of ever-advancing tech and the vast majority of people get a new phone every 24 months when their contract is up. You're not going to get a significant drop in battery life in 2 years with most modern smartphones.
