Keeping dossiers on people is hideous and something that has always worried me, I'm prob on some blacklist somewhere too or maybe that's just antiestablishment paranoia? mind you following the miners strike we know it's a 'thing' and seemingly not a strictly right wing construct :/

I would like to think that following the death of Jo Cox any online threats of violence are given the gravitas they would be if made in person, which hopefully deters many keyboard warriors from making such comments any longer.

I still have faith in nationalisation as a construct that will aid the countries recovery from austerity and it is only that which keeps me tied to Corbyn following such issues as this.

I think a big part of the issue with deterring online threats are that so MANY are made that it would be impossible to punish offenders in any meaningful way... at least with traditional punishments.

So, I say make a new punishment for it: Internet exile. Temporarily ban repeat offenders from having broadband internet or mobile data contracts. Might be difficult to stop them having access completely (pay-as-you go mobile internet, etc) but honestly, I think if people were regularly having their "proper" internet access affected, then it would prompt people to think much harder about what they post.

Yeah this sounds a possible idea.

Yes people would find ways of getting around it, I mean if my net was restricted i could just go on my mobile and use data, but it would be a pain in the arse to HAVE to do that. Not sure how possible this would be in practise though, they would have to get all ISPs to agree to it.

They do need to do something about it..I recieve threats fairly often on twitter but just write them off as twitter is a cesspit and it doesn't really bother me as my twitter is pretty anonymous. I have absolutely no idea how they linked my personal facebook though. They are in different names, on different email addresses and everything

But people really do need some kind of punishment for sending threats to others like. its beyond a joke

If I was famous, then the people sending these threats would be locked up by now.

I've said it before but imo Ruth is the best party leader in the UK
