That's what should have happened rather than wasting the police's time and traumatising the girl. She's 6 years old and doesn't really understand what's right and what's wrong.

Teachers have as much responsibility to instill good behaviour in young children as much as the childrens parents. To palm them off on the police when I'm sure the police have far better things to be doing is sooooo questionable. I understand tough teachings and what not but to actually pull the kid out of school and CUFF them (idgaf if they used the word "tie", it was a cuffing) is really irresponsible on the school and police officers part.

In order to teach a kid right from wrong you need to relay that information in a positive and productive way. This child might escape this situation without any lasting traumas but personally, I'd be worried that it would instill a really negative, bitter outlook on the world which would have further consequences for her and take her down the wrong path.

She shouldn't have hit her teacher but this punishment proves nothing besides the ineptitude of the teachers at this school.

In an unrelated incident that same day, Turner also arrested a 6-year-old boy at the school for misdemeanor battery. The boy was released before being processed

Years ago teachers used to cane pupils and hit them over the head with rulers. All very acceptable in those days.
When my sister was a toddler, she had a habit of biting people, so one day my mother bit her back and she never bit anyone again.

I was caned at primary school ( 60’s) . .. they used to hit your non writing hand .

At high school ( in the 70’s) teachers were allowed to whack you on the head or back with text books and throw wooden board cleaners at you for doing next to nothing .
The actual punishment was getting your backside whacked with a slipper ( or big plimsole ) .. it absolutely wrecked and you couldn’t sit down fir about 20 minutes due to the pain !!
