Oh and on top of that if the school ends up having noone coming in in the next few weeks we might be redeployed to other social sectors such as care homes, mowing roundabouts you name it, even teachers the same, why that is the case when we might not have training in those sectors I have no idea

But in the meeting I was in today they said there is talk schools could potentially be closed until september!

Where I work, it was dead for the past week but today it was mad busy. I had to finish the bakery early and help out on the shop floor.

I'm really lucky that I work from home anyway, and my work offers 20 fully paid sick days a year before you go into statutory sick pay. I actually nearly resigned at the beginning of the year to look for a new job but really glad I didn't now.

My partner is a self employed barber though and was ill at the weekend so he's had to self-isolate with no pay so now everything relies on my income.

We are transferring medical supplies and ppe gear to help with the pandemic so will be open as normal, it may reduce to skeleton staff at some point although in saying that staff are dwindling by the day due to isolation

I don't think we have any soldiers on here...but here is a soldiers perceptive on the change it will make to his job.

Had about 20 ***** message me asking if the country is going on lockdown, presumably because I’m a squaddie and they expect me to know something they don’t.

Let me make it clear; if they’re planning some kind of massive deployment of troops in the near future and they’re keeping it on the lowdown, the last **** they’re gonna tell is LCpl Ryan the ******** REMF from Leeds who’s on leave scratching his bollocks and eating crisps.

At the very most, some blokes might get called in to help deliver food to supermarkets and make sure old people in rural areas aren’t dying. MAYBE. But if you think theres gonna be blokes patrolling the streets in full CBRN rig, booting ***** in for being out past curfew, you’re absolutely ****ed in the head.

What if we get civil unrest or riots or looting .. it’s all possible I think ..

I'm not one to tempt fate like that my saying you are ill but if you are at risk of picking something up then don't go in, speak to your HR department.

At the moment, very little has changed but I'm unsure whether or not we'll close. We're a big shop but I don't think we sell many necessities so I'm hoping we close but I don't think we will as we've done better business these past few days then we have for years and the higher ups will likely want to keep us open.

My job is unaffected as it's a web-based company and I mostly work from home anyway so the way I work isn't even different. Most others are office-based usually and now WFH so it's all a bit new to them.

My wife's job is also secure in mental health; if anything they're very worried about under-staffing.

We have taken a financial hit as my wife's freelancing work is off the table for a while, as it's reliant on conferencing which obviously is not happening. It's a financial hit and not at the same time, which is an odd situation. Our finances are down a good chunk but it's income we've always considered "extra" and have spent on things like dinners out, family activities, event tickets, weekends away ... all things which we wouldn't be able to do now anyway. So we won't notice a day-to-day difference.

Not 100% sure, hopefully now this has come out we'll get the pay from the Government, we're still employed by the company, so we should

Finally my school job has realised how silly it is for me to work when my wife is so close to giving birth. So as she is vunerable I have been given 12 weeks off! I will get that at my uni job too. I have to say when I was walking out of the school today it definitely felt like I wasnt ever going back. There was an odd atmosphere to it too, it was all still there was noone around and it felt really strange. I finally accepted things arent going to be the same for a long long time if ever again

It's a nice time to be home, too. I was fantastically unemployed when my first was born, I started work about 8 weeks after she was born. Money was tight but honestly I wouldn't have traded that time for anything .

I prefer a light-hearted comedy when I'm "working" from home.

Very awkward for me as I'd just finished working at my last place and was meant to be starting somewhere else next week but that's been put on hold until this is all over... Really not sure where to go from here
