however you can still enjoy your freedom at home, i mean no one restricts you to stay indoors, your garden or balcony depending where you live is part of your home also a suggestion of mine, do not watch the news too much, it can make you depressed if you constantly watch that

Just went out to walk the dogs and there people sat on the beaches over here, people are selfish and stupid and we’re going to be in lockdown for longer

Two possibilities here:
1) They know it's not going to happen but are giving ultimatums to keep the lockdown as tight as possible. Using the idea of getting out as a "carrot" to encourage people to be safe. My thoughts on this is that it is a HUGE error in terms of social psychology. When it's withdrawn for "naughtiness" at the last minute, there will be a drop in patience levels and disobedience will increase. 2) Alongside the clearly deliberately selected "we might still need to do herd immunity" govt press release "that was just one advisor" - they are baby-stepping a scared public into accepting that for economic reasons, certain aspects of lockdown will have to end long before the infection levels have decreased dramatically. I'm edging towards believing option two because I think people are severely underestimating the looming economic catastrophe, whilst governments are all too aware of it. They can't say these things outright though because SoMed deems it "choosing money over lives" as they're incapable of understanding how closely the two are linked. |

It wont be and I hope it isn't.
People are still flouncing the rules. Just today I drove past a local playing field to work and there were people kids playing...their parents clearly don't care about them.

I'm not clapping anymore for the NHS, I rekon doing that can spread the virus from your hands..
So my windows are tightly shut now on a Thursday night. Last edited by Parmy; 04-04-2020 at 03:31 PM. |

No population of humans has ever been placed on this strict a lockdown for a prolonged period of time in written history, which means it has probably never happened, ever.
And we're not psychologically cut out for that level of cabin fever. Compliance rates will drop steadily over time as people lose willpower and the idea that most people will still be complying even 50% in 3 months is very, very optimistic - let alone the 6 months+ that some people are predicting. I know people don't believe or maybe just don't like what I'm saying but . Quote me in 3 months if I'm wrong I suppose.

I can't see it, Italy started their lockdown in Feb, and they're still locked down.

Even if we followed it, I don’t see it ending anytime soon. And I bet there are going to be a lot idiots in the parks the next few days.

I was just reading up on the Spanish lockdown rules.
You're only allowed out for food or medicine, to walk a dog, go to hospital or work if necessary. Going out for exercise isn't allowed. Lockdown has just been extended to 26th April, so six weeks in total so far. Quote:

The world is run by actual morons, you're more likely to catch a virus on a bus than on a bike

But we all know how much cyclists like to get all lycra upped and meet in groups of 6 to 8 on a warm Sunday.
