I’m sure certain males of the baby boomer generation won’t agree but baby boomers are called baby boomers for a reason. Most of those rigid masculine stereotypes didn’t exist before the mid-20th century.
Yet here you are in 2020 mentioning it, so perhaps the same problems are happening now in your examples directed directly at baby boomers

The biggest to me is not talking about your feelings, what bothers you, mental issues, what's going on in your home etc just for the sake of "we are bros so we have to be tough". Depression, body issues, rape etc are not just "girl" stuff we swipe under the carpet.
I've been playing rugby since I was 7, I know all about this, the "bro" life and the codes that go with it.
And that sucks because we have to do better than that, we NEED to look after each other and that implies going the extra mile with your "tough looking" friends. That can spare years of alcoholism, depression, abuse in the relationships.

So yeah, the "no pink" or "the banana rule" are the "dumb" part, but really letting go and talking about what happens in your head is the most important one of all. Talking about it doesn't make you fragile. I wish some "bros" I knew realized that.

That’s a good point but I wanted to avoid any direct suggestions of mental health in this thread. That’s why I kept it to dumb bro. codes.

Ok well, I will add the "no homo" rule.
You knew you wanted me when you saw me in the shower after rugby practice, so don't "no homo" me after you got it. Don't be lying.

I once heard the "Bros don't use umbrellas" one because umbrellas look gay.

Do them at training.tell them as you pin them to the pitch with your straight arm gripping the collar of their training top...roar it in their faces.

Rugby players are usually dicks though, so perhaps judge your own situation..

I'm also sorry I didn't get what this thread was all about to begin with..

It is interesting cause I laugh with my workmates about my pink shirt, I obviously call it cerise...and I do probably imitate my mate Jamie's voice because I feel as though they judge me on my pink lacoste shirt...does it bother me that I'm making their minds think I'm acting like a gay person they dont know that just happens to be a friend of mine..no....No it doesn't..

He deserves it.

You may think, yeah..but what about jamie who doesn't know this...well if anything I feel like I'm doing it because of him, because of how he is, like a tribute sort of thing.

Cause I know I love him to bits; but I also know I've been in the company of some really annoying gay blokes who think their sexuality makes them flamboyant.

Y'know I wonder when short hair=male thing came about.

Portraits and stuff of old kings and queens, the males nearly always had longer hair...

They didn't have Toni&Guy in the 15th century, which is why wigs were often the hair fashion choice of heirs.

Maybe it does have something to do with electric razors.
