Unfair to take away festivals / clubs / fun things to do because about 10 (vulnerable/unhealthy) people are dying a day in a country of 60M. Way More people a day are dying of car accidents.. are we removing cars?
I mean, the number is low because of restrictions

i feel more sorry for people having weddings, stag/hen parties, 18/21st birthdays where the events are tied to a specific date and can't be recreated. Covid has basically destroyed that for now

They will re-open eventually.

Although I'm 28, I was not one for clubs myself.
However for those who love that life and atmosphere, they are a necessary part of life.

However, I can see why they aren't able to be open at this time.
In fact I can think of other things that shouldn't be yet either.

Also too though, despite me not being ' not young ' at 28, I'm actually coming across many of those even much younger than myself, being far more tolerant and understanding as to restrictions.
Than many of far older individuals I'm coming across.

That in itself is really heartening to see.

Weddings etc. can be rescheduled but I agree about fixed dates - "big birthdays", proms, university graduations etc. are life moments that are gone forever.

Clubs can stay shut, absolute cess pits. YUCK. The only reason I ever went clubbing when I was younger is because I enjoyed the pre-club bar scene and that was the majority of the night. We'd go out about 9, I'd enjoy it until about 1am, then someone would suggest a club and I'd tolerate it for an hour then **** off home. They're just disgusting. I'd be more surprised if I went to a club and DIDN'T catch something.

Can't wait to see the day I can once more have a dance and a flirt on the dancefloor then a ciggie and gossip in the smoking area after.

There's no realistic way to social distance in a club, they shouldn't open for a long time. It's not like festivals or gigs in which they can split up a field or arena into separate pods etc.

It's just not viable at the moment, but luckily there's other methods of socialising.

i know, very selfish those thoughts

those people also gotta adapt to current times, maybe a sort of ''Club from home'' thing, via skype, bit of a music player too, some booze, i know it isn't the same socializing but sometimes alternate options are better than nothing at all

maybe we should offer more alternate fun things to do from home, would also help in reducing number of protests/demonstrations

No we must punish the young for flouting the rules and spreading the virus. illegal raves, demos, house parties.

The 2nd spike is all their fault and they must be stopped

and stopped now

Every so often I get the urge of wanting to go clubbing and am starting to miss it now. I know I'd soon get bored of it again though.

I do hope it returns in some capacity within the next year, because I don't want to be at the 'past it' age when it eventually does.

I used to go to a rave club every week in the 90s and there used to be a couple who went every week who were in their 40s... they were like minor celebs as they were "so old". There is a reunion back at the club planned for next April and during lockdown the group has gone mad with people saying they are gonna take drugs again for the first time in 20+ years. I've got a ticket but don't think I'm gonna go as I just think it will ruin the memories of the times when we are all past it on the dancefloor There used to be St John Ambulance there for people who had taken too much etc and they will need to be there this time in case anyone pops a hip

I hope they open soon I’ve been missing the clubs quite a lot over lockdown. I do think think it’ll be a while until they open though.

I hope they're open by the time New Years Eve arrives ...
