Happened to me before a few years back actually, one morning while I was in bed instead of being at college. Heard something going on in the bedroom opposite me and just knew it was a burgler so I got up and opened the door and started shouting and moving towards him. He leapt out the window - upstairs window - and legged it. I wasn't going to give chase cuz I was bollock naked lol. No wonder he ran!

Everyone has a right to defend themselves. I can't imagine how scary it must be to find someone in your own home - with no idea of what their intentions are. You would be in a state of fear - and if you over-reacted - should not be held accountable - as you would not have been in a right state of mind.

If people break into people's homes, scaring the hell out of them - that is a risk they take as far as I am concerned.

I take the view that in the end - I would rather be in trouble with the police - than dead.

I feel absolutely no sympathy for the criminals.

Exactly this^^^^^

If burgulars knew there was a risk of the house owner kicking the **** out of them or even killing them, they might not be so quick to break into people houses!!

Makes me laugh the, "id hit him with somthing heavy" - would you get a good chance to?

And if your like 14, and a girl, not like hitting someone without something would do much to a fully grown man.

Like Ross said i dont think you would have much of a chance unless you were like 18 or you could sneak up on them somehow.

I would not grab somthing heavy, but grab something i could swing have a metal pole in my wardrobe. Think i could have a fairly good chance against a regular bloke...Thats if i was alone.

If everyone was in id wake my dad and brother and all of us would go down, if the blokes alone he would run.. not like any of us are small either..

I'd kick them in the balls and throw them from my balcony. If that didn't work I'd get the missus to throw DVDs at them - seriously, we were going to watch a film the other night, and she threw me a DVD and it hit me right in the eye... you know, the other eye.

Honestly i would not do anything. but if its a fat or weak person there getting it! If it was some one strong i will scream like a bitch. (sorry for using that word) but if i ever hear people coming to my house i always put a horror film on and close the lights to scare them and then if they come in i just try surprise them or come running down with a baseball. LOL!

If someone broke into my house they would have to be carried out on a stretcher or in a bag. I don't usually advocate violence, but if you break into my place, you're mine.

I'd run and hide, if I wasn't frozen with fear. I always have my mobile at hand so I'd ring the police. I don't think I could put up much of a fight if it came to that. It's horrible to think about it though.

If ever I heard a noise, and I've done this in the past, I grab my deodorant so that if they came up to me I'd spray them in the eyes.

Probably the most quick + effective thing in my room. Then after that you could pretty much do what you want with them.

However if you were still sleeping and they came into your room, I don't know what I'd do. Smash them over the head with my alarm clock or something.

Stab Them and Run out the Front Door shouting "Jesus Christ Help!" And then call the police.
