I guess the same could be said for JJ as well though.

I should have said people in Australia won't be able to vote for John either. Imagine if people in Portugal had been able to vote for Rodrigo las year me might have won, who knows.

Southern Ireland isn't part of Britain, I'd be quite offended by that statement too. Republic of Ireland has independance from Britain and it's not that nice when people say you're part of another country when you're not AND when the people had to work hard to get independance from that country in the past.

I have nothing wrong with Britain at all though, I have British cousins living there and I think this Ireland vs Britain rivalry is silly. But Ireland and Britain are two different countries independant from each other and that should be respected and acknowledged.

I think it's offensive how people in the RoI aren't allowed to vote in some of our competitions. Like this one for example. Caoimhe is from The Rep' yet her peeps wont be able to vote for her to win or w/e if she makes it that far, which IMHO takes the p***!
Do you realise just how annoying that is to me?

I come from N.I, i am a proud Ulsterman and i am proud to be british. Get your ****ing facts right.

Ulster and Northern Ireland are very different things, try talking to a monaghan man about it and you will see. Ulster was there a long time before NI, so by saying you are a proud ulsterman goes against being proud to be british, i think what you are trying to say is you are a proud Northern Irish man and a proud Britishman since they are the same thing. Ulster Culture ended with the plantations IMO. If you were truly proud to be from Ulster you ould agree.

I'm not intending to be rude or anything, but I don't understand how Ulster can be used as a British place , in any form, Ulster/Cúige Uladh is one of the four Irish provinces that make up Ireland, and it also includes some counties from the Republic. I don't quite get how this comes around to be British?

Ulster can mean something depending which family you come from. I support the union and im proud of it.

I have Ulster heritage and im proud of it. Both are mixed in. A lot of people don't realise this.

Being an Ulsterman DOES NOT go against being british. Some one needs a history lesson. The people who fought in WW1, the 36th ulster division, a lot of them were proud to be fighting for their country. Others seen it as a way of getting home rule. Again, depending which side of the family you come from.

RIP to all them great men.

But Ulster is nothing more than what the english tried to change the word Ulaidh to when they first came here and tried to rid us of our language, when it was Ulaidh as in the province of Ireland. Ulster is Irish land, including the six counties of n. Ireland and the other counties of Ulster in the republic, I just find it kind of weird how people can use Ulster as a British term when it a traditional Irish place.

I haven't seen said incident but without getting into politics or history, I think it depends on how she said it. I'd be fairly taken aback by someone being angry/aggresive with somebody they had just met regardless of what they had said.. Especially in an environment like the BB house
Scots and Irish get asked stupid questions like that so often.. When a foreigner asks me whereabouts in England is Scotland, I just put him/her straight. If he/she genuinely thinks that then the only thing you can do is put them right (but also thinking "you stupid **** ) no point in getting angry about it.
John is a foreigner.. he obviously didn't say it to offend so there is no point in getting overly defensive and making yourself look like a tw@t on telly!
However, a few of you say she didn't overreact so I'll wait until I see it.. (might not even be shown though)
uh oh..I think I'm going to fall out with myself today!!

I'm from ROI, and I know what she meant - she's just pee'd off that people KEEP saying it to her. Lets face it, a lot of the BB wannabe's are probably a bit dumb, so she probably got asked 20 times over the past few days!
BTW, read some Irish history if you want to know why some of us get offended. NOT for the faint hearted...

She wasn't really agressive towards john she tried explaining it a few times and he was acting a bit slow to it cause a friend of his said he was British but from Ireland it does get annoying saying the same thing over I think this thread is getting carried away and dragged out but I think the way she said she will get angry If someone says that is perfectly normal I'm sure other people in that sistuation would say the same.

I didn't see it but from what I read it was more of the fact that she was frustrated at him not getting what she was saying than her hating Britain

Come on now This is getting ridiculous. She didn';t punch him, shout at him or stalk off, she just made it clear she didn't like being called british. I know some people from dublin that think I live in Northern Ireland cause I am from Donegal, .. Lets just say she 'educated' him and leave it at that!
