Those meals look absolutely disgusting.

We were lucky enough to be able to pick what we wanted at school from quite a lrage selection (all different prices mind) and the dinners in general were great. i dont think this kid is just trying to cause trouble...she wouldnt be able to cause trouble simply by posting her school meals if there wasnt something wrong with them tbh

I agree! There's hardly any food in them!

That's not the point. The meals aren't good value for money at all. There's hardly any food in them!

Kids need healthy food. Like meat and vegetables for example. And fruit.

Maybe because she gets fed well at home.

Its really not the point though. I fail to see why people are happy for children to be fed this crap when murderers and the likes are better fed.

Ah well, at least the prisoners are healthy, will stop people bleating about their human rights and that

Yes, the parents of this particular child could probably afford to just switch to packed lunches (and I dont see why they havent tbh...though personally I think a hot meal is healthier), but a lot cant...as they get the school meals for free. And yes, some get school meals for free because the parents are nothing but workshy scroungers, but many are in that situation through no fault of their own...no reason for their kids to have to eat what I, to be quite honest, wouldnt feed to a dog.

The quantity there is probably enough for a 9 year old, but the quality is not. I doubt a piece of fruit costs much more than an icelolly...if it was healthy stuff instead of just empty calories I doubt so many people would be pissed off by this. And the teachers have the nerve to complain about kids being hyperactive or lethargic...feeding them this **** wont help things at all

Luckily its not in all schools...thats the one good thing about it all.

I know. They need fruit and vegetables. Not fast food!

How is it just making trouble though? All shes doing is posting photos of her meals. Noone would say anything if there wasnt some kind of problem with the meals would they :S

If she was posting a decent meal everyday...no-one would bat an eyelid.

She is now going Worldwide thanks to the D.Mail.

Some of us see it as a decent meal for a 9 year old

With permission from teachers, she photographed her £2 lunches and wrote about them.
Seems the teachers never saw her as a troublemaker either

(Now feels the need to point out that the school is under a different headteacher now and has vastly improved in all areas. They do seem to know what the kids get up to now)

Not just slagging them off, will give credit where its due

http://www.food.gov.uk/multimedia/pdfs/adultprison.pdf

(page 9 onwards unless you want to read it all)

A bit offtopic, but compare that to what you see on the schoolchilds plate

or even easier, google image prison meals, gives a better comparison.

Sorry Vicky, I don't see the relevance of the comparison, prison meals are supplied by the State and according to this article at a cost of £1.68 per meal (not read that link you posted because it isn't loading so don't know if it gives a different figure) which is cheaper than what the school charge per meal, it's the schools fault that they're not spending that money wisely
