I don't think of myself as religious per se but I do believe in god. I feel the whole topic of religion is so sensitive, religion causes more wars than anything. I feel it is a deeply personal thing but if someone takes comfort in believing then that is what it should be about. Extremes of religion are difficult to understand though.

wars happened before religion and they would happen if religion ceased to exist. war is about greed, for land for power , for oil , for legacy. to blame war on religion is as stupid as blaming war on movies, music, sports , you may as well blame wars on trees for providing the wood in the spears. its nothing to do with religion at all. |

Having thought about your argument you are probably right but those who want war use religion as an excuse to attract support from those with no material stake in a conflict - so I concede you are correct. Last edited by AnnieK; 24-10-2012 at 08:29 AM. |

Yeah, it's a bit of both really I think. It is "mans" fault really for brain washing people to try and control them. That's why I don't like organised religion, if there is a god and he gave us free will, why do we need a religion to tell us what to do and when we can eat meat etc? Surely he'd want us to believe and be moral using our own brain?

I see what you're saying and I'm not overly keen on the idea that everything came from nothing but I think believing in some homophobic bigot floating in the clouds is a tad silly. The same 'God' who wanted gays to be stoned and women to keep silent in church, right? Not to mention the many contradictions in the Bible.

I don't believe in God but I'm pretty spiritual in my own hippy dippy way. Mostly owing to my refusal to believe that feeling love is just a sort of complicated chemical reaction. Yeah I know you're going to explain how it can be but ... I don't really care and I'm not going to agree with you.
Also I thought I was going to be the first person to mention Final Fantasy VII. Amazing, hehe. It's a nice textbook example of that vague sort of spirituality that unemployable nutters like me hold in high regard. Last edited by Stu; 23-10-2012 at 11:17 AM. |

I'm living in a house without an internet connection. I got two cats though so it's a fair trade. I've become a huge fan of the Vampire Diaries. A lot has happened.

It's oddly compulsive. Probably because I want to bone Damon Salvatore.

Well I would say i'm more pagan in my beliefs, however I would never scoff others...if it harms none and all that.
The evil happening in the world in the name of religion is soul destroying.

Not really. My parents are very religious, and try to force it upon me which makes me not want to be religious.
I believe there is a god, but I don't really practice any "religious" type things.

Am I religious?
Well I don't believe in any of the many organised religions. I can't understand why they feel the need to brainwash their kids into their belief systems, if their religion was the right one, wouldn't people gravitate towards it naturally when they're old enough to make choices. And the majority of them seem to be sexist organisations, plus they all share these odd rules about food, I guess it's something to do with control. And the whole idea of heaven is kinda silly, where is it meant to be, in an alternate universe? Or in the sky? Or existing in some magical place that we can't detect, but we can only get to by going through death? So no, I guess I'm not religious. I can't have faith in some primitive belief system. Also isn't it odd the way they all ask for money off of people, like shouldn't the money be going the other way. If these priests, holymen or shamans are closer to these all powerful gods, why don't they magic up some money for their devout followers. It seems like such a scam. Lastly I guess I should add that I wasn't born into any religion, and if I offended any god worshippers here I apologise. |
