If I was boss,I would have an 'Apology' thread where people would apologise and explain their reasons for being rude and nasty and talk problems out,I would have no bans except for extreme cases and refusals to apologise.

That wouldn't go well imo, it'd just turn into a fight thread

Every month have like a sacrifice a member day and then we can all vote and punt somebody and then when I'm gone the forum would take care of itself

You can do this and that but at the end of the day in order for the forum to be engaging and entertaining looking to prospective new members it needs to look like it actually has substance.

A few years back every thread was a conversation. A dialogue you could actually follow. It was like one of those forums you could read for ages and just be entertained by it, then sign up saying "Oh I've been browsing for ages and have only joined now, hello!".

Nowadays the place is just barren. It's this really thin skinned parody of itself. I mean there are still lots of really great members doing their best and a couple of good threads a week but a large volume of the forum seems to be just threads that follow this pattern of 'Hai' > '.gif' > 'ikr ' > LOL > '.gif' > +1>.

That's an MSN conversation. Not something that people want to actually sign up to be a part of. I'm not saying let's abolish all notion of casual chat - this is a level beneath casual chat even - but this is basically what the forum's become now.

That's my biggest problem with it. 90% of the threads I go in to I go out of again because I know what they hold. I log in a few times a day and am actually stuck for things to do.

It's just a general drop in quality, unfortunately. And it's something that's hard to fix because we only ban people for ... well ... breaking the rules which is fair enough.

Give it two or three years and it'll be a handful of us backed in to a cave desperately sharpening spears whilst a parade of BigBroIsTheBest1995s run riot outside discussing which singer is auto tuned the least.

I agree stu,I like the threads that we can debate and get our teeth into,I also find the one word things a bit pointless.

Agree with you 100% on the part about not being able to have discussions in threads being full and ruined by the same gifs being posted over and over again

..when I first started to post off season, there was still that as well though, Stu...there would be a debate/conversation etc and people would post random gifs/just say hai..bye...etc...I know some people found it could be distracting/annoying...but I wasn't really bothered because I could just ignore that/those posts and follow the posts of people whose opinions I was interested in...but maybe it's more noticeable atm because the forum is generally a lot less busy/active and so there isn't the balance to distract from it and it becomes more of an irritant..?...

The welcome thing although a nice gesture wouldn't work IMO a lot of members sign up and never post or post about 5 times then leave and it would be a bit daft sending a welcome message a lot later than that.

We do often let members know that we have other sections too.
If there was a stock pm that you could all use it would take 10 seconds to paste in. The fact new posters post 5 times then leave shows that from registering to post 5, something isn't working, and we've seen 5 different people in this thread alone have no idea about most of TIBB. And the welcome message should be sent immediately, not a week down the line.

Even a basic hello and welcome, with links to all areas of the forum. At least then people will have all the information at the start.

This would be really good during on season. Regularly tweet about the show and follow loads of people on the BB hashtag who look like they're big fans. Much more people would then at least visit the forum, with some hopefully signing up afterwards.

the threads full of gifs and stuff are mostly threads started by us/threads you people wouldn't even post in anyway. So if this forum is boring it's your own fault for not creating interesting threads, stop blaming us

Also since I've been unbanned (beginning of October) I've literally started over 50 threads, with one having 1500+ replies and two or three having replies in their hundreds. How many threads have the people who are complaining the forum is dull & blaming me among others started?

this, the only place post like that happen is in chat and games or some pop music thread. Don't try acting like the whole of tibb is in decline just because of members posting gifs. If you want deep discussions go to general chat or serious debates.

yeah and if you get offended by the odd joke post featuring a gif in a General Chat/serious debates thread maybe you should stop using the forum altogether because that doesn't ruin a thread. It's not like it puts an end to any possibility of a conversation.

Nobody acted like that. It's just one small example of a more prevalent problem. Read between the lines.

The inevitable poncy backlash is kinda funny though.

It's a problem for you, not the whole forum.
