...I was thinking about her knowing him since he was 14yrs old but then my thoughts would be different because they would come from 'maternal eyes', which isn't the case with Cheryl and they weren't in a relationship until he was into his 20s, I don't think..?...anyway, she's 32yrs old I believe and he's 22yrs old, that seems fine to me/whatever etc...I don't think it would make any difference if the ages were the other way round, I don't see that any age difference is odd in any way...

I don't think Cheryl really 'knew' him when he was 14 either, that was when he first auditioned for XF but he got cut by Simon at the judges houses. He was 16 when he was with 1D and they were mentored by Simon again so she probably wasn't that close to him really

...I didn't know how they had met originally actually but I think that's a factor as well..(an X-factor..)...that he was never a close friend/family friend or anything, just a 14yr old young person on the show and no attraction or anything until he was a lot older...
