Most of the BBC radio presenters get paid big money because most of the listening is still on FM (rather than digital), and the BBC control most of national FM waveband.

Also radio is more personality based than TV - where a lot of people could do the same job on a show.

feltz is a pretty ignorant person but most definitely talented , she earns the cash with the market value simply because her shows garner the listeners

DAB radios are cheap
£20

And DAB is even fitted in good cars
with a auto switch to FM
if signal is temp., lost

The problem with the bbc is how absolutely **** it is....mainly how little is invested in wrtiters ....in the 60s 70s 80s there were endless original shows from porridge to liver birds, bread, fawlty towers, butterflies, steptoe and son, only fools , blackadder etc etc since then its withered away to almost nothing...almost every show ends up looking the same , even sherlock looks like doctor who ....the output is ****

Nick Grimshaw, presenter of Radio 1's breakfast show, earns around £375,000 per year, while General Nick Carter, head of the British Army, earns £175,000.

The atmosphere in the BBC will be poisonous today. There is nothing that causes more upset amongst staff than finding out that people no better than you, people who probably work less hard, get much more pay.

Andrew Niel should get more than any of these clowns. He's always clued up on every political issue,He must do an awful lot of research,He's an excellent presenter,an excellent interviewer,He Grills politicians hard.Probably the job with the most benefit to the public and overall good at his job.
Chris Evans getting what he does is a joke.

Graham Norton should be on the Chris Evans money. Fantastic talk show that airs for the majority of the year and also Eurovision. Very likeable guy as well.

From what I've been reading, the figure for Norton DOESN'T include his talk show fee, only money he's paid directly by the BBC. The BBC pay an external production company a flat fee for the show and Norton is then paid by the production company.

In other words... his total income may well be comparable, it's just not all coming directly from the BBC. Which leads me to believe that it's a similar situation for many of the people listed, and that these figures are pretty much meaningless.

Chris Evans is a canny business man. I remember he made a fortune buying and selling Virgin Radio. That's probably one of the reasons he earns so much, as well as what I posted about BBC radio.

But as a publicly funded organisation he should not be permitted to do so.

The BBC do not have to generate money like a normal business and as such should not be permitted to pay such unjust and ridiculous wages when other people can do that job for a fraction.

Think that salary also includes some of the money he earned from Top Gear. Matt Le Blanc isn't on the list because he's paid by BBC Worldwide apparently but I bet it's a big amount. Suspect if Clarkson was still at the BBC he would be highest paid by some way.

I actually really like Evans and like James says he has had a very successful career. His breakfast show is the most listened to in the country by some way and that is largely down to him.
