I think that's a silly example.

Clothing and food are vital, this seems like just an attempt to encroach on people's rights in the guise of protecting children.

I wonder how long it'll be before this block spreads to things other than porn?

No its not a silly example you seem to think parents are helicoptering around their kids 24/7 when that is pretty much an impossibility

There are plenty of programs and apps for restricting access to inappropriate sites. There are a lot of options. Parents don't need to hover over them all the time, they just need to do the bare minimum.

How on earth is this comparable to parents in financial difficulty having help with feeding their kids?

Its the same principal that parents can be monitoring their kids 24/7, same as parents can fail when it comes to feeding and clothing their kids due to outside influences ie losing a job or a partner the same goes for parenting kids in general....so to say parents should be protecting their children 24/7 from outside influences is pretty much impossible

So... a parent losing their job so needing financial support to feed their child to keep them alive is the same as a parent... monitoring their child's internet useage?

Yeah. Ok Cherie.

Well its hardly a guise...given it actualy WILL protect a lot of children. I don't really get what the issue is with showing ID if you want to watch someone be choked almost to death then get spunk in her eyes

Because I don't like where it could lead. Everything begins with small steps.

I just don't think this is about protecting kids at all but seeing what they can get away with restricting by saying that it's for the benefit of children.

I feel sorry for the kids coming up that will never properly learn how to choke a girl to within an inch of her life and make her gag all over herself.

I'm thankful my generation grew up with proper teachers.

Yes, but "Saving the children from that dutty porn" is the excuse with which they are introducing these internet restrictions, which will only increase and spread rapidly.

it's a system that is destined for failure. Those that want to watch porn will find a way to watch it without providing id. Those that don't want to watch it won't care any way.

If this is targeting school kids, then they are the ones that will get lured into underground methods of watching it, and that is an environment far more dangerous than what they are being blocked from watching. It's just not been thought through properly at all.

This is a very good point; a likely outcome is that some teens will head to the Dark Web to access normal porn, where they will encounter things that are so far outwith the realms of "normal" that they make a bukkake cuck party look like a wholesome family movie.

So dumb, I can understand protecting children (I.e 11>) but that should be responsibility of the parents. From the age of 12 once kids (mainly boys lbh) hit puberty they’re going to access porn one way or another

in a couple of years they will say it didn't work as well as expected, so they need to tighten up in a few more areas. I'ts a pretty obvious strategy

This might lead to blocking/banning/censoring certain video games as well as movies that are deemed "too violent" and or otherwise inappropriate.

How's this going to be policed? What's to stop a kid from "borrowing" their parents passport or driving licence?
Also, a guy on bbc news said many sites with mixed content including porn will slip through the net.
Idk, need to see the details.
But thank god for my offline porn collection.
A friend of mine who relies only on online porn and is a freak about his privacy will be fuming

I think you'll just be able to go through your service provider to get it turned off. You won't have to provide ID when your trousers are around your ankles.
