A Trump win was on the cards and I'm of the personal opinion (stated more then enough times for you to check) that the US election results make little to zero difference in terms of geopolitics and, as we're not American, while the domestic politics are a disaster for American women... We're not American.

I do (legitimately) find it extremely sad that anyone would assess whether or not a day was great for them personally on the basis of any political event, let alone another nation's elections. If it genuinely warms your cockles I find that bleak and sad. Like, I joke and take the piss, but all jokes aside, finding any sort of real joy in this is an existential black hole that I can't even imagine LT. By all means enjoy it but fk me. It's an empty bottle of nothing sauce.

Given that I've never suggested anything of the sort, I'll gather from this post that you find a certain literary flair in my posts that's otherwise lacking in others.

Thank you kindly, Alf!

Like I asked Vanessa earlier, why isn’t the rape of a woman higher on your moral radar than your support of him?
As a loud advocate for women’s rights LT and a father of a daughter why have you turned a blind eye to the violation of a woman?

It’s almost as if you don’t care for women’s rights at all unless it’s against a buzz story about a trans person

As expected. No response.

Same with Vanessa and Kate too.

No response. Because there’s no justification for it.

What i want to know is how Trump is going to go into California and forcibly remove immigrants. Thats not going to happen without declaring war on the state. The same applies to all the other democratic held states

The weasel Rory Stewart explaining how yes he was so wrong about Harris winning

But it was wrong for the right reason

He was wrong but virtuous "I think you can be a false prophet and right"

His far left buddy A Campbell looks on incredulously

the hilarious clip is here: https://x.com/RestIsPolitics/status/1854086264196399471

people will hand wring for years trying to find someone to blame. The simple fact is that democracy is a very fragile thing and its incompatible in the modern day with the existence of social media etc

Basic human interaction, community and psychology is incompatible with social media. It's entirely bipartisan and an overarching social issue not just an "election politics" issue.

The mechanism is a "win" for Trump fans today -- but, for example, the gender ideology rhetoric those same people cannot stand, is a result of exactly the same mechanism.

I personally wouldn't likely elect a convicted individual of any really unsavoury crimes to a position of power now.
So I guess I'd agree he shouldn't be.

However I'm not American, thank goodness because it seems more of them have gone out their minds in electing this paranoid narcissist as President.
Thankfully in just around three and a half years, this election process will be again going on in the USA.
With this narcissist not a candidate and after the next election leaving the World political stage for good.

What disruption and division he will possibly dangerously create in the next 3 years maybe doesn't bear thinking about.

However very sadly and worrying it's the USA's choice.

I hate to say it Joey but I think there are worse people in his wake. Trump is a meme/entirely self-focussed/not at all ideology focused.

There are other far darker individuals with real ideological agendas clinging to his coat tails.

My hope is that they don't have the charisma to get over the line -- but I suspect they'll be keen to find another meat puppet to get their hands into.

I really fear you are right there too.
You've made extremely strong reasoned points in your posts.

It's really worrying.

On a more hopeful note, I would say they have put SO much into building Trump into a colossus that there is going to be an almost inevitable drop in their voter base engagement when he's gone. Heck of a lot of those voters are out to vote for Trump, and Trump specifically. They'll find a new figurehead for sure but not one with the same following as Trump over-night.

Harris was fine but the campaign was put together too hastily for it not to inevitably run out of steam.

I'm not sure if that was down to Biden being stubborn -- or a deliberate tactic that didn't play out in the end. The momentum gained at the announcement didn't make it to voting day, and the Trump campaign (which was initially caught off guard) in the end had too much time to pivot their own tactics in response.
