This isn't really true now is it? Ben's mum received a letter from Cameron in February this year which she described as the most sympathetic and understanding one she had received from a Government. He has pledged all the government's support to South Yorkshire Police in their investigation and is pressing the Greek Authorities for all information that is required. So please don't play the class card unless you are going to be accurate about the facts. Seems Gordon Brown from the sharing, caring Labour Government who purportedly represent the working classes, ignored her pleas for support, but Cameron most certainly has NOT.

Of course they keep reigniting the issue. Of course they plug the book and get their faces in to the papers, it's the only way they can keep their missing daughter on the front page, and while she in the news there's more chance that they will find her if she is still alive. They obviously work very hard at keeping their daughter's name in the papers and it's a positive thing.

I'm quite a cynical person. However, to say the McCanns are only doing this to sell their book is beyond cynical. I can't imagine what this couple have gone through. My neice is the same age as Maddie and to have had her missing for half her life would be enough to drive you insane.

I agree, If it was my child I would never stop looking for her or talking about her or publicizing it. I doubt any parent would disagree.

Absolutely right. Those who have never had a child have no idea how powerful and overwhelming a bond it can be, and if it were me, i would be bombarding the press and other media persistently and forever to keep my missing child in the news, in the hope that someone, somewhere might be able to provide even the tiniest clue.

To suggest that Maddie's parents are doing this for personal gain is a scurrilous, offensive and totally unfounded accusation.

Really hope they get some closure with this new investigation. Even if she is dead which I think is a strong possibility now at least they will know that there's no more they can do. I would love to see "Maddie found at last!" on the news one day but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. Feel sorry for the parents, I personally feel that they have nothing to do with this and that the press have given them a bad image and reputation.

Yeah, fair point but at the same time Madeleine is also the other kids sister, I know if it were my sibling I would want an answer too. There's no reason why she can't be a good mother to those kids and still look for answers to what happened to her daughter

I know but we all couldn't even begin to imagine what she's going through, I don't think it's even possible for a parent to just give up trying to find out what happened to their child

I know, so much time has past now it's highly unlikely that she'll ever be found, dead or alive. Not knowing is even harder then knowing for sure that she was dead.

Not knowing what happened to your child must be the worst thing in the world because they can never begin to rebuild their lives and it must consume them everyday. Maybe their other children will end up resenting them for the time spent on searching for Maddie but that doesn't mean they can just switch off. They have to keep on doing this and I don't think they could ever stop even if they wanted to. I think its the whole purpose of their lives now

I honestly can't imagine how they feel every day of their lives. I think I would actually go mad if my daughter was taken from me.

Yes I was reading last week about the mother of one of the children they believe was killed by Ian Brady and Mira Hindley in 1963, she is terminally ill and is begging for Mira Hindley to say where the body of her child is, so they can be buried properly and she can mourn their death before she dies. I can't imagine what her life has been like. However devastating the truth is, you can begin to deal with it. But never knowing - well you havn't even got a starting point
