They are different. Again, I have no examples of other all female pop groups in the modern age that have lasted as long as they have, do I? They broke the mould in the sense that they have had incredibly longevity for a band that has come from a TV show, where the routine dictates that shelf life is somewhere between two weeks and a year.
As I said, mass audience eat up that kind of stuff. They have lasted long, but in my opinion they are not very good. And back to the original point, Sound of the Underground was not deserving of a Christmas number 1.

Again that's the point. That's what the music is designed for! It's pop! If you want sonic innovation you are looking in the wrong place.

Indeed, that is why I tried to get back to what I was on about before. That it was a rubbish Christmas number 1.

it's also worth noting that not many groups' - TV show orginated or otherwise - debut single still sounds as good now as it did the day it was released, which Sound Of The Underground has so far managed to do.

That's why I voted for it. It's polished to perfection and was not a typical sort of first single for girl group from a talent show.

Besides, look at the competition it had this decade.
