'Nuff of the sexist remarks, please. I really don't like that.

Anyway, in reply to Marcs post, "why don't I just stop swearing?". Well, it is definitely not JUST me that enjoys swearing, there are many others that do it too without trying to outwit the filter and it does frustrate me when all I see are asterisks, particularly when I'm reading a certain member's posts, haha. And yes, it IS the principle. I don't feel like I HAVE to swear, sometimes I just want to, and why shouldn't I? Freedom of speech and all that ****.

As I said before, and there really is no use trying to argue against this, just add a filter option in the control we can turn on and off, and voila! We are all happy.

I do see what you are saying Enid - but I have to say that I have felt today like I haven't really had the freedom of speech - the freedom to disagree with what appears to be the majority view - without feeling a bit apprehensive about doing so and without being jumped on (by some) and feeling I have had to try very hard to defend my corner, so to speak! Has been very tiring!

Freedom of speech, of course, is a very valid point - but their are other freedoms involved ie. the freedom to come on a site like this and not have to see a lot of swearing. It is a difficult situation - however I do think your idea is a good one! Maybe it could work!

Of course. If they added this function, by default it would be turned ON so those that are offended by foul language would not have to view it until they manually changed the settings. And then those of us who would prefer not to be restricted could simply turn it off.

The only problem that could arise if this was implemented, is that there would be MORE use of foul language. You know how kids are, if they have access to alcohol, they're gonna drink the whole bottle.

I know - I feel one or two are doing that already. I guess we can only hope that after a while the novelty will wear off - and that will lessen a bit with time.

All I care about is the F family really.Take the rest, leave my fucking F's be! I use them all the time but almost never to actually insult someone. In fact you can't really insult someone with that word. Nobody calls anybody a simple 'fucker' over the forums. People just bang about fuck to string other words together and add colour to the sentences because that's the way they are.

I mean ... uh ... they are putting it on to be cool and bring down the system.

For the record - when did I ever mention the f word - my only real objection is the c word. Many would find that offensive!

Yep, I'm staying with the whole "only the C and N words should be filtered." Everything else you're gonna hear everyday in life anyway and BB does have a load of swearing.
