Well, If she is a Catholic and she is using her religious beliefs as a reason to not serve and by doing so belittle a person, In the name of the Catholic Church then I think they should comment on it. If she's been mis understanding the rules of her faith don't you think they should tell that?

No, that's completely different LT and you know it, she is saying it's against her religion which, as we demonstrated here this morning by having an argument about it, is believable that she make think it is. So, If she is wrong maybe her church should tell her that. We are not talking about a murderer with voices in their head LT.

We know that her stance has no biblical basis

We know that all other Catholic pharmacists dish out the pills in question with no problem


like I said, it is an issue about a woman who is either pissed off with the woman she served or has got her Catholicism all wrong and twisted.

Well, you're assuming that she might be pissed of with the woman in question but I got the impression from reading the article that the woman had never even seen her in there before., so I would assume it's because she believes that she is following her religions rules so therefore I think her church owe it to her to tell her that infact she is not breaking any rules by selling contraceptives, it may just save her job and prevent similar occurances happening in the future, it's a win/win thing to do by telling her that surely!

Begs the question how long has she been there and if it is more than one week why has this not come to light before

She was filling in for someone it said, alot of people probably wouldn't have gone to the paper or complained about it probably just grumbled about it and went else where or maybe were really embarassed about it?

Probably it is not the policy of the Catholic Church to impose their beliefs on non catholics, it is a matter of conscience for the individual concerned, if she is a Catholic.

NHS Sheffield said it would investigate if a formal complaint was made – but The Royal *Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain said the pharmacist was acting within her rights.

It said she is not required to *provide a service *contrary to religious or moral beliefs.

But any attempt to impose their beliefs on customers or not send them on to another pharmacist “could form the basis of a *complaint of professional *misconduct”, said a spokesman for the society. (Daily Express)

Well, yes, It does seem more imposing her beliefs on rather than providing a service.
