Sports people get sponsorships based on their abilities rather than their family life. From same Wiki article it says,

The argument is that the money Ryan Giggs makes from product endorsement relies on the image of himself he projects, an image that is a marketed commodity in itself, and therefore not private. But it's more complicated than that. Lots of other people make money from Giggs and his like, flogging their products not on their intrinsic value, but because Giggs says they're good. Ryan Giggs was accused yesterday of an eight-year affair with his brother’s wife as the fall-out from his ill-fated gagging order became ever more damaging.

The Manchester United star, formerly regarded as the model professional and committed family man, found his reputation further sullied by tawdry details of the relationship with his 28-year-old sister-in-law Natasha.

He had been cheating on his wife Stacey with her before she began dating his younger brother Rhodri, a Sunday newspaper claimed.

It said Giggs slept with Natasha the day after his eight-year-old daughter was born, and again the day after the arrival of his four-year-old son. The affair was alleged to have continued until April 9.

To underline 37-year-old Giggs’s folly in taking out his notorious injunction over an alleged fling with former Big Brother housemate Imogen Thomas, his sister-in-law said it was this which spurred her to break her silence.

Footballer Ryan Giggs, equal 20th in the latest Sunday Times Sport Rich List, would lose at least half his worth in any divorce settlement.

He must now also be considering hanging up his boots in what would almost certainly have been his last season at Manchester United.

If he retired now he’d miss out on another £2.4million in club wages next season.

But whether he stays or goes he still faces losing a host of lucrative sponsorship deals. For two decades some of the world’s biggest brands have battled to secure his endorsement as football’s Mr Clean family man.

Ryan Giggs' brother Rhodri has emerged from his marital home after it was claimed he had split from his wife Natasha following claims of her having an affair with his footballer sibling.

Rhodri, 34, looked tired and stressed as he left the property in Bolton alongside close friend Will Mellor. And, significantly, Rhodri's ring finger was bare, with no sign of the wedding band he wore up until recently.

It is believed Rhodri and Mellor spent the afternoon with the Giggs' brothers' mother.

Rhodri is said to be 'devastated' over the reported eight-year relationship, and has now apparently ended his marriage, telling The Sun: 'I was with her on Saturday but I'm not with her now.'
