Or are we saying that no one that isn't a HM should be made a target on a personal level, because they are all real people that aren't in the competition (which I personally prefer).

Mods here have supported and posted in threads that were attacking non HMs (even necroing them once they were long dead) and so that sent the message to me that all relatives/ friends of HMs were ok to talk about.... Not criticising those mods, just saying that the message is confused and I would like to know so I don't get banned for accidently doing the wrong thing :/

It's getting very muddy tbh... Can we clarify once and for all?

Hahaa,, but also "not all negative comments are insults", explain all my infractions then?

I think i get this.

If David is present then you are insulting a Tibb member
If he is not present you are insulting a Hm's family member.

Hence you can insult him in another thread but not in his own.

Am i warm?

Pretty much yeah.

Treat david the forum member, as another forum member. And David the family member connected with BB, as a family member connected with BB...ie. you can say pretty much whatever you like about him(within reason), but not to him

What do you mean 'all' your infractions. You got one infraction in that thread because you directly insulted Aarons brother (and followed it up with I wanna see if I get an infraction for this, so you knew you were in the wrong)

Your other infractions...if you have a problem with them or want to question them, please use the private appeals section...

Well if that IS the case - there's something far wrong with the rules of the forum then....

It's either acceptable to insult a member or not -it shouldn't matter if it's done directly to them - or done whilst on another thread. An insult to another forum member is still an insult - regardless of where it is taking place on the forum.

Time this was clarified once and for all.

It is not acceptable to insult a member.

But we cannot stop people having negative opinions on people who have been on/connected with the actual show. We cant say just because said person has signed up that all of a sudden people are not allowed to post negative things about them.

However I think its fairly reasonable to say that people cannot directly insult the member in question.

hang on. So if a member on here is getting ripped to bits and insulted on a thread that they are not participating in: you are saying that that is acceptable.?

A member is a member. Regardless. Insults should not be allowed against another forum member at ALL... regardless of context, whereabouts etc.

An insult is an insult - regardless if the person is connected to a housemate.

David 'the family member' is still a member of this forum Vicky. So regardless of whether he is being addressed as David, or as David the family member: that does not mean he is any less of a forum member - regardless of what hat he wears.

Fine for the hmate to be insulted: but not the member - regardless of their status.

OK, lets look at it another way.

Jay comes out of the house and signs up. Yet people are still talking about his time in the house/what he got up to. Do you think we should stop people making negative comments on him just because he is now a member? Of course not, as he WAS a housemate and a main talking point.

But at the same time, its not ok...if he made a thread introducing himself...for people to swamp the thread with 'you are such a dickhead' etc.

A member is that. Regardless.

No member, regardless of what 'hat' they are wearing should expect to be insulted.

A direct insult is attacking someone in a personal, derogatory manor; its classed as flaming : hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users, or against internet users

A negative post is different; in as much as it should amount to maintaining a modicum of politeness ...which doesn't need to contain any support ...but merely you're thoughts and opines on the subject/person, no matter how emotive or strongly worded. It is down to your tone and the way you pose you're questions- as opposed to merely making vitriolic comments.

that's a completly different set of circumstances though. Completely different altogether. Yes we can say retrospectively what we thought of them in the house, but not then currently, with them as a member, say "You are dick".

We aren't talking about that. We are talking about a current member - and you saying that it's okay to describe that member currently as being a dick - that's how this is being perceived - that it's okay to do that as long as you don't do it to their face, (ie: on another thread).

I understand "David, when you were nasty to Fayes mum, you were being dick" - vs "David, you are a dick" (present tense) - but you saying its fine to say it on another thread, as long as it's not said TO them -that that is okay..... that's wrong.

tbh, I think its worse to be able to start a thread with "I think X is a d*ck" than if a member stated it to them

I'm really confused as to what your point is to be honest.

I never said the bit in bold AT ALL.

I am not saying it is ok to insult them on another thread...I'm saying it is ok to continue to have a negative opinion(and if said opinion is that they were a dick, then so be it), and voice that opinion, regardless of if the person in question is a member or not. But it would not be ok to say to him that he is a dick :S

You can tell were looking at the most pathetic series in the history of big brother when this is the topic of conversation.
Are people so bored they need to nitpick to this degree?

We are not nitpicking. We are having an intelligent debate to try and sort out some earlier confusion. If you're bored..go to bed ..or something

See? That was an example of speaking my mind in a negative fashion....instead of telling bobnot to go forth and multiply and stop being a ****
