Default Questions about rules regarding HMs becoming members[Split]

OK, I have split the majority of posts in this thread from anther thread, as the original thread was going quite offtopic. There seems to be a bit of confusion over what is acceptable and what is not acceptable when it comes to HMs/people to do with BB becoming forum members.

I have attempted to explain the rules regarding this in this thread(but at times failed drastically at putting across what I actually meant) and have now found out that its much easier to explain by using hypothetical situations. So i have copied one of my later posts in this thread...to the front page, incase people cant be bothered reading through the whole thread for clarification

So here are some hypothetical situations. Obviously every situation is not outlined here, but the general rule on this hopefully is quite easy to understand.

Quote:
There is a long running thread in which many members have said XXXX is an arsehole because on his behavior in the house. XXXX then joins the forum.

We cannot expect people who have a negative opinion on XXXX to stop posting said negative opinion just because he has joined the forum. Because besides being a member, he is also a housemate and a topic of conversation
Quote:
XXXX is a member of the forum. Someone starts a thread on XXXXs time in the house and says they were a prick. This is fine, as it is an opinion on the show. Where saying to XXXX that they are a prick, is not
Quote:
XXXX makes a thread to introduce themselves. A member then answers this thread with 'you are such an arsehole'. This is not OK, because it is an insult to another forum member.
Quote:
XXXX makes a thread saying they will answer FMS questions. A member asks 'why did you do this in the house, it came across a bit sh***y' would be fine. Whilst 'you were such a **** **** **** when you did this in the house, and you are still *** **** now' would not be
If anyone has any questions on this, please add them to the thread and I(or another member of staff) will try to explain. As this is a VERY grey area. Basically, the main thing is distinguishing between the member as a member, and the member as a housemate.

OK... confused now

Are we saying now that relatives who have actively engaged in the media (and therefore the show) are fair game to be attacked and ridiculed, as they have been, while any relative who signs up here, but otherwise fits that description, isn't?

Or are we saying that no one that isn't a HM should be made a target on a personal level, because they are all real people that aren't in the competition (which I personally prefer).

Mods here have supported and posted in threads that were attacking non HMs (even necroing them once they were long dead) and so that sent the message to me that all relatives/ friends of HMs were ok to talk about.... Not criticising those mods, just saying that the message is confused and I would like to know so I don't get banned for accidently doing the wrong thing :/

It's getting very muddy tbh... Can we clarify once and for all?

Did you read the second half of my post? Insults TO other members are not allowed, even if they are a family member or an ex housemate.

If you really felt the need to you could go and start another thread about how you dislike Aarons brother and what he said on BBBOTS or his nominations or whatever, as he has been connected with the show...but an insult AT him(eg in this thread...saying oi mate your a wanker or something) is not allowed, as he is a forum member.

OK, so we are allowed to make personal attacks on non HMs that have done media, but those that register are protected.

I could say, 'Aaron's wife, what a money grubbing bitch for selling her story', for instance?

Understood. Thanks for the clarification.

Not at all. They are not protected. You could still say how much you dislike them, just not directly insult them. I already said this, twice.

I have a feeling you are deliberately missing the point in order to make a big fuss out of nothing. Which is out of character...

Please don't attack or make observations about my character.

I am just asking stright up questions to get clear answers, sorry if that's a bother... I just don't want any unnecessary infractions or bans issued.

I always understood and am sure it is in the rules also, which maybe many of us need to read up/recap on every once in a while, and also thought it was the adult and even common sense thing to do and shouldn't really need clarifying for the most part as most members of forums are intelligent enough to realise this? that housemates and their families if they choose to get involved outside the forum ie: as in the nommings of the housemates etc; are fair game only up to a certain extent. That over the top insults are not on. We all let slip sometimes, as is human nature, but that is different to deliberately setting out to insult to the extremes at times.

LOL at 'attacking you'

You deliberately cut off the second part of my post that had already clarified the answer to the question you asked...just to make me repeat it again, then you twisted the answer into 'those who register are protected' when I didnt say that at all.

Vicky explained it very clearly and she certainly isn't attacking you.

Please continue this in PMs if you must. It isn't appropriate for the thread or forum IMO.

I have a question did you think Jose was a worthy winner?
Jose was supposed to be a girl next door type, please she turned to out be a
pisst head and agressive person . There was a reason the house didnt have much booze last time the real Jose would have been outed.
She manipulated the public into thinking she was in real relationship with John and he travelled back to Oz on a 24 hour flight three times in how many months because she was such a lovely girl who threw things at him.

Jose was a gameplayer and Aaron is a gameplayer but what you see is what you get.

She won the popular vote (and me over £500) so yep, she was 'worthy'.

Anyone in a popularity contest that gets the most individual votes is 'worthy' because that is the sole condition of victory.

I think the above discussion can be dropped now, the rules regarding this have been clarified several times; it is fine to insult house mates and to some extent family members who put themselves into the public eye. However when they join they also become forum members, who it is obviously against the rules to insult directly, but if you make a negative comment on a thread discussing them as a house mate then that is acceptable; there is a distinction between them as a member and them as a HM

I can't believe the level of hostility on here and the vitriolic comments directed at someone who is naturally supporting his sibling. Why would you suggest he has any ulterior motive other than having a need to express a very human in-built desire to protect and support a member of his family? It is human nature, and if you can't understand that and insist on spitting venom then who is the one that is 'fake'? Because don't tell me you wouldn't do the same for your own next of kin! Albeit perhaps in not such an eloquent, atticulate and civilized mannor as David did, obviously!

Iv not read the thread, but you are painting a best case scenario of the Op's intentions, there are other's, and the fact that the Op has not stuck around to defend his point of view is enough to tell me i don't trust his intentions. Love to know if there are any Aaron fans that don't trust his intentions though?

No Cromwell, I am painting raw, undiluted emotions; this is what drives us to protect all those we hold dear. As for ulterior motives, they are secondary and I for one cannot think what would be more prominant or important. What do you feel these intensions extend to?

I don't think he's recieved any more criticism than other family members. On the contrary in fact, we've had 12 pages of almost unanimous support for him, there have been far worse things written about Faye's Mum, or Jay's Mum

Exactly, but anything about St Aaron's family and they get "too much of a hard time" or whatever. He's fair game
