And Ukip will also fight to take fish and chips out of VAT, he will say. Under current rules the traditional British dinner carries a 20% VAT charge.
Is this not just UKIP in a nutshell? . Fish and chips, a pint of warm beer and a ****ing flat-cap. Basically a bunch of sad, bitter old lads reminiscing about "the good old days" and trying to preserve the most banal, outdated aspects of British life. Yawn. "I have a vision for the future! And it is 1962."

I'll have a bit of that. A fantastic period in music just about to happen, Alf Garnett will shortly be in our lives and England will win the World cup in four year's time.

Rather that, then this year 1984 we're currently living in.

I'll give you the music part.

But the general sentiment... That's the inherent flaw in wanting to wind the clock back. "Now is bad, let's go back to before it was bad". If you go back to before it was bad, bad is still coming.

The ONLY hope is always forward. Never look back. Hope that what comes next is better.

The grass is always greener kind of thinking. It rarely is. Seems much more likely there is a lot of bad to look forward to. You think the world will become a better place - I would say the opposite. Progressive, forward-thinking - they are just words, pretty empty words really. Forward to what exactly?

"The grass is always greener" perfectly describes the idea that things "used to be so much better so we should go back to that". In fact it's the very origin of the phrase

Aging yuppies... aw, you have to feel sorry for them, give them a brick phone, a pinstripe suit (with braces) and a filofax and they'll be in Thatchers heaven.

I hope they get zero seats instead of the 1 in the next election so they can fade back into irrelevance.

I once read that there was a time during the Roman empire, that people only used to go to work for two days a year. Can we go back to those times please?
