Race isn't biological it's a social construct, we're all human at the end of the day. The idea of race as we know it only came about during the slave trade and later on with the study of eugenics. Irish people were never considered to be white until later on. It's less to do with numerical supremacy and more to do with white supremacy. the way we categorise race now is rooted in white supremacy. It was created for that very reason to establish dominance over everybody else. Racial hierarchy was used to justify colonialism, slavery and genocide. while we've moved on as people whiteness is still seen as the norm and everybody else is an other (mind, blacks stay perched right at the bottom).

This ideology is quite confusing.Race is obviously biological.
How people of different races treat each other though,Yes is sociological.
However tribalism as unpleasant as it can be,is a natural trait.
It’s seen all across the animal kingdom including humans.
It is true to say that tribalism doesn’t just cross racial lines but is also reflected in geographical origin.
Hopefully one day humans will evolve past tribalism if we survive long enough.
But to say race is a social construct is confusing and inaccurate.

Race as we understand it is a construct. I didn't say there aren't any biological differences between people from around the wold but race is a social construct. There are physical/ biological differences between different ethnic groups of black people around the world, but with the way we view race they're still simply categorised as black. The fact that how i'm categorised is dependent on the era and/or location i'm in proves this.

I don't blame Olivier (or myself) for past acts of discrimination of non-white people.
But I do take issue with people on the right claiming ignorance of where right wing extremism comes from and why it's a problem.
Parmnion asked if whites get accused of racism more bc there's more of them, Olivier thinks the history or inter-race relations doesn't matter bc it started before he was born. Others questioned why we should discuss right wing terrorism at all. That's what I object to, this attempt at pretending the issue doesn't exist or bc we have anti-discrimination laws so it must be ok. Truly Trumpian view of the world.

Of course right wing terrorism should be discussed, I never took issue with that. What I did mean was any reason to dislike whites for the past can be applied to muslims in the present, and both are stupid.
