I’m not worried for my self but for my parents.
This virus in term of killing humans is a mild one. We may get repeated outbreaks from now on if this one is gets under control |

I wasn't, but a creeping dread is washing over me.
Just read a diary of someone who was diagnosed with it too. The cough itself sounds horrendous.

I've heard some bad coughs that sound like they're bringing up their lungs.
Remember when they use to do ads ,telling people to get checked if they had a cough for more than 3 weeks as it could be cancer. Now people are worried it might be the coronavirus . |

More so for my parents and sister. For myself, I couldn’t give a **** as I would probably brush it off and have an excuse to spend a week in bed watching Netflix

...I honestly don’t believe that most people won’t be scared of some aspect...maybe not contracting the virus as such, but other things associated with what is happening in our lives atm...our whole lives, we become ‘problem solvers’ and that’s a huge thing in what has protected us and our families and also obviously, it has given us thriving as well as surviving...(...and we’ve been fortunate in being born in the countries we have to enable that thriving also...)...but so much of that problem solving has become helpless as we face things like food shortages/insufficient medical provisions etc...we are facing a helplessness in our lives that we’ve never experienced before and that couldn’t not be scary...

...I’m worried how human nature will act/react out of fear ...the virus itself seems much less to fear than that...

I think it will still be lingering about, hopefully not as much. And hopefully the panic buying and hysteria will of calmed down .

It doesn't scare me, no. But I don't think everyone's overreacting. Self-isolation, cancellation of public gatherings, all good ideas... panic buying... not such a good idea.

The virus itself doesn't scare me but people do , those who are shopping like its the end of the world. so selfish and unnecessary, and whats all that about ?the fighting over certain items , the worlds gone mad.

I haven't been scared really, a little concerned but this weekend its started to feel very real and very serious. Not bothered for myself or my son but my dad is 72...had had a heart attack in the past and I rely on him for a lot of help around school /work and I feel I could be putting him at risk. I've not panic bought as such, just a few extra pasata, tins but only because I meal plan and shop weekly so I dont have masses of surplus food in the house. I do tend to batch cook though so we gave meals in the freezer for when time is short for cooking but that wouldn't last very long.

I just want this lockdown in the US (or whatever states) to happen already if it's going to happen. Rather now before it spreads more and when there's already hysteria anyway with people stocking up at stores. There's already been a (voluntary I think?) lockdown in one of the cities in NJ (there's around 20 cases there last I heard yesterday).
I'm a little sketched out about why this is made to be THIS big of a deal though... like sure it's bad but is it THAT bad to have lockdowns & talks of more lockdowns... is something being hidden about it or have people just gone mad because social media rules the world now?

Here's a hypothetical for you... if you wanted to wear a mask ( and you were not ill) and your job was customer facing but your boss said no due to company image is this right ir not?

Yes. Not even the virus itself, but also the consequences of it.
With all the closures, isolating etc, it’s already had and undoubtedly will continue to have a serious effect on my mental health, so god knows how awful I’ll be by the end of this. |

...I haven’t really had time to give it any thought as I’m rushing off out...but my instinct would be that it would be unreasonable of a boss to refuse under these extraordinary circumstances we all find ourselves in...it could cause the employee to have such anxiety and worry that they may not be able to work anyway..?..would that be more acceptable to the employer, to have employees not there at all..?../...sorry, just a quick thought though...

I know it's said that masks don't help, which is odd as they've been using surgical masks for years to help slow/ prevent infection haven't they?... suddenly they don't work :/ No company would put an email out banning masks as the papers would have a field day, but unofficially that's the rule.. I dont agree your employer should be able to ask you to not to do all you feel fit to stay safe in a pandemic.
