"she will have cause to put the independence referendum back on the agenda,"

But even today
She has said No.

She want rights for her land

So Dave will give her them
and give England new rights

If she wanted to, all she has to do is have in the manifesto for the Scottish Holyrood/Edinburgh elections next year, a proposal stating a new independence referendum could or would be sought if circumstances warranted it.

If the Scots vote the same way they did in 2011, then she has the mandate to go for it as and when she wishes.

All she would need to do, if she was getting nowhere with this govt; is demand a referendum from the UK govt:
Then like last time, one would have to be granted as the Scots would have given her authority to ask for one again.

If the UK parliament were to try to block it, then there could and likely would be absolute chaos.
I still believe the EU referendum to come too,in itself will split the Conservative party.
A then further,in addition, constitutional crisis with the Scots would be massively time consuming and a dangerous path for this govt; to go down.

AS I said, John Swinney of the SNP, refused today to say for sure that no independence referendum would be in the SNP manifesto for the elections in Scotland only next year.
She has that door open if she decides to go for it.

Well Dave has to square anything he gives to Scotland with his own party, She actually wants more than he is offering at present it appears, and also does not want the SNP MPs treated like 2nd class MPs in Westminster either.
Something else he will have problems with his party as to as well.

If he gives too much on paper to the Scots, then he will have the Welsh and the parties in Northern Ireland too, on his back for even more concessions to them.

No way is she going to make life easy for David Cameron,if you think she is, you will find you are heavily underestimating her.
He got us into the first independence chaos, and very nearly saw the break up of the UK too.

Just for fun i used this site to calculate the UK General Election 2015 seat count if GB used the D´Hondt system:

http://icon.cat/util/elections#

The result were following:

Conservative (37.0%): 244 seats
Labour (30.5%): 201 seats
UKIP (12.7%): 83 seats
Liberal Dem. (7.9%): 52 seats
SNP (4.8%): 31 seats
Green (3.8%): 24 seats
DUP (0.6%): 3 seats
Plaid Cymru (0.6%): 3 seats
Sinn Fein (0.6%): 3 seats
Others (0.5%): 3 seats
UUP (0.4%): 2 seats
Alliance (0.2%): 1 seats

------------------------------
TUSC (0.1%): None
NHA (0.1%): None
TUV (0.1%): None
Respect Party (0.0%): None
CISTA (0.0%): None
Yorkshire First (0.0%): None
English Dem. (0.0%): None
MLRP (0.0%): None
Socialist Lab. (0.0%): None
CPA (0.0%): None
Christian Party (0.0%): None
Workers Party (0.0%): None
BNP (0.0%): None
Class War (0.0%): None

Votes 30687180 of 46425386 (33.9% abstention).

The next party to obtain a seat would be Green instead of Conservative.

“But that would mean hitting lone parents and disabled people and create pressure on food banks and hardship on a scale that would be hard to imagine,” Hills said. “Alternatively you could take it from hardworking families who rely on housing benefit and tax credits. That’s a lot of pain from a large number of people who have just voted for you.”

'To justify the cuts, the Tories are likely to employ a narrative of skivers v strivers, suggesting a clear division between a large, permanently welfare-dependent group and the rest of the population who pay taxes to support it. '

Pitting people against people already... How long did it take? Less than a day!

Wait and see Kizzy, he cannot, and he knows it, rely on over 50 majorites for what he puts forwards now, important legislation is going to need no ill Conservative MPs,none absent, none at all likely to abstain or dread of dread vote against their party.

Every single other party in the Commons, is dead against this legislation, people complain about the Lords, however they could hold things up for ages, with debate and amendments.
I just wish Sinn Fein would come over and take their seats too at Westminster and make his task even harder.

He knows, it will be much harder to get legislation through.
Also as to austerity cuts,he will have the SNP MPs really baying at him on all thaose and especially welfare cuts.
If he tries to impose them on the Scots he will have a massive fight on his hands, if he gives a special deal to the Scots, he will almost certainly get some revolt from some in his own party.

Interesting days ahead, he may actually,in the end, yet wish he still had the coalition in place than this situation now, especially for his last 5 years as PM.

How long before Scotland has its first by-election? Soon, I'm guessing. Not many parties have a selection process more haphazard and nod-and-a-wink-shoe-ins than UKIP, but the SNP managed it.

Whatever system they have works, they have for their Country had 2 of the most successful leaders of any party over the last decade or more.

I think the first by-election will be in Sheffield Hallam, I cannot see Nick Clegg after being Deputy PM of the last 5 years just sitting around the Commons on the benches now and not even being a leader.

He will likely be off and quick.

My worry is there will be lots of surprise votes, the SNP MPs are going to find racing to westminster from their constituencies a struggle :/

Most will attend parliament regularly I would guess and for important and controversial legislation like cuts and welfare reforms etc, they will all likely be there ready to vote against them all.

Parliament is a talking shop, things can be kept being talked about for days, never mind hours, they'd have plenty of time to get there if needs be.

Actually I found myself agreeing with a lot he said but I really agreed with Chukka Ummunah more.

This is a poor election for Labour, the swing they need, looking at the results in detail, to just get to be the largest party is going to be difficult.
The right leader has to be chosen this time with great scrutiny and care too.

Mandy was the chief architect of new labour, so his comments are not really a surprise. He was also removed in disgrace a couple of times and still comes back to haunt
