Declawing involves the removal or part removal of a cat’s digital phalanges – the bone to which the claw is attached. Whilst the practice of declawing is relatively popular in the USA (an estimated 25% of domestic cats are declawed in the US), it is declining in popularity, thanks to anti-cruelty campaigns and being banned in some states. In the UK, declawing cats for any non-medical reason was officially made illegal in 2006, and is now punishable with a £20,000 fine and/or up to a year in prison. https://pawpost.co.uk/blog/blog/2016.../#.XU1Db-NKgnQ

Bloody hell. I wonder if its worth reporting now? I guess it will be my word vs theirs, but surely others will have been 'advised' the same, or taken them up on it..
Is it one of those things where they can claim 'medical reason' for anything..possibly. Where those words basicaslly make it legal.. Last edited by Vicky.; 09-08-2019 at 09:54 AM. |

i sometimes don't get why people would have pets in the first place then, if they don't like 1) licking of a dog since that is common what dogs do, and 2) sharp claws of a cat, since that declawing sounds quite a disgusting and painful procedure

People like the Kennel Club have a lot to answer for when it comes to breeding.
That's why BBC dumped Crufts. Many big breeds have dysplasia bc of ridiculous breed standards |

Agree, seeing how so many breeds have changed over the years due to inbreeding is heartbreaking. Snouts shorter causing breathing problems - the British Bulldog is unrecognisable to what it originally looked like.

Totally agree Bots, just no need for it at all.All dogs are beautiful and don't need changing, that is what I don't like about humans, they think they have the God given right to alter things that they don't find pleasing to the eye.

The problem with the Kennel Club is it's made up of former and current breeders.
Take just one breed, the German shepherd. The idiotic breed description calls for a sloping back. As a result the hip socket is underdeveloped and legs come out of the joint leading to pain and disability. Less said about the short snouts the better or about malformed skulls where brain doesn't have enough room and dogs suffer from seizures and pain. Somewhere along the line those breeders forgot about dogs in their competitive outdoing of one another |

I love big dogs aswell but I just don't have the time(or energy) to be able to commit to properly looking after a big dog

Labradors for me. Eventually I want to get one of theoe but really I need to be better first so I can walk it loads..as fairly sure Gavin will say he will do it but then not want to if its raining, etc. Kids will say and do the same. So I cannot really get one until I know for sure it will get enough excercise.
We always had a labrador growing up, and andrex puppies are just bloody beautiful! Prefer a golden one, but brown would do too I guess. They are great with kids, or ours always have been. So docile but..playful at the same time. Last edited by Vicky.; 09-08-2019 at 08:00 PM. |
